Wonder Bread Star Wars

A separate 1977 food promotion

Wonder Bread issued a sixteen-card Star Wars promotional series associated with the original film. It is a U.S. branded promotion, not the first Topps release or an alternate border color for the Topps numbered sequence. IDS therefore indexes Wonder Bread as its own set and retains the maker in the catalog. Its sixteen numbered records do not include the much larger Topps sticker and card programs.

Character portraits and vehicles

The first cards identify Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi and Princess Leia Organa. The remaining list covers other recognizable figures, droids, Imperial subjects and starships. Among the final entries are an X-Wing and Darth Vader's TIE craft. These subjects are recognizable across several vintage products, making the actual Wonder Bread card face and printed number more reliable than the character name alone.

Packaging and the collectible object

The promotional connection to bread packaging helps explain how this edition circulated outside conventional trading-card packs. An original bread wrapper, store display or other promotional material is a different collectible from a numbered Wonder Bread trading card. The sixteen-card count refers to the documented cards only. The archive does not add packaging artifacts to the checklist or claim every promotional item has been researched.

Sixteen numbered reverses

Every numbered Wonder Bread entry has a linked back image as well as a front. That allows a collector to compare the same printed number from both sides when the source remains accessible. These links do not turn sixteen physical cards into thirty-two catalog entries. The current set has one group of sixteen base cards and does not contain a separately identified eleven-sticker series.

Credited visual evidence

The source data includes sixteen front-image URLs and sixteen corresponding back-image URLs from the credited collector gallery. Those are references for identifying pictured objects, not local files owned by IDS. Reuse rights and the continued availability of the original server are independent issues. If one URL fails, the archive should report the missing scan rather than assign a photograph from another vintage food promotion.
