Sources & Editorial Standards
Imperial Dark Sector combines factual reference, anthropological interpretation, collector research, and creative tools. These standards explain how those categories are separated, attributed, dated, corrected, and connected so a reader can tell what kind of claim is being made.

01 · Evidence hierarchy
Not every source does the same job
A source supports only what it actually establishes. IDS does not use the existence of a source as permission to make broader claims than the source can support.
Databank, era & Lucasfilm material
Official reference material is preferred for names, terminology, current continuity framing, institutions, and high-level chronology when available.
Topps, LEGO & manufacturer records
Official checklists, product pages, card backs, serial numbers, and manufacturer information support collecting claims. Manufacturer facts are separated from secondary-market prices.
Anthropological & historical interpretation
Claims about power, kinship, ritual, labor, representation, institutions, material culture, or social meaning are editorial analysis. They should remain traceable to evidence without being presented as official lore.
02 · Continuity
Canon and Legends stay distinguishable
Continuity labels describe the evidence base, not the quality or importance of a story.
The page is grounded primarily in current Star Wars canon.
The page or subject belongs to the Legends continuity.
Both continuities are discussed and differences should be labeled rather than blended.
Current canon is the default frame, while any Legends material used for comparison should be identified where it appears.
The page is primarily about real-world products or collecting rather than fictional continuity.
Fusion Lab and similar creative experiments are intentionally fictional IDS material.
03 · Attribution & dates
Readers should know who is speaking and when
IDS uses site-level editorial attribution because pages are part of one connected archive rather than isolated guest posts.
Article-style pages are attributed to Imperial Dark Sector. Where repository history provides it, IDS displays the first publication date and most recent update date. A new update date means the page changed; it does not imply that every claim was independently reverified on that date.
Pages also identify their evidence type. A character or lore page may combine story evidence with IDS analysis. A collector guide may combine official product information with market research. A question page is a synthesis designed to lead into deeper archive evidence.
04 · Citations
Visible source trails and machine-readable references
Citations should help a reader verify a claim, not merely decorate a page.
Lore dossiers use visible numbered source trails. Major guides may also include source sections and official reference links. When a source trail is present, IDS exposes external citations in article structured data so search engines can recognize the evidence relationship.
Image credits and captions identify official imagery when known. A caption can explain what the image demonstrates, but the image itself is not treated as proof of a broader cultural claim.
05 · Corrections
Substantive corrections stay visible
IDS is a living archive. Stronger evidence should replace weaker material instead of being ignored to preserve an older version.
A substantive correction is a change to a factual claim, continuity label, identity, chronology, product identification, source attribution, or other point that could materially change a reader's understanding. Routine spelling, layout, image optimization, and broken-link repairs do not normally receive correction-log entries.
When a substantive correction is logged, the entry records the date, affected page, and a concise description of what changed. Corrections do not erase the page's update date.
No substantive corrections are currently logged.
Minor copy edits, layout changes, image replacements, and routine link maintenance are not normally listed as substantive corrections.
06 · Collecting & commerce
Research comes before the referral link
Commercial relationships should not determine editorial conclusions.
Collector pages may use official manufacturer information, completed-sale evidence, marketplace listings, grading information, and IDS collection research. Active asking prices are not treated as equivalent to completed sales. Scarcity is not treated as a price by itself.
IDS may use ads, affiliate links, referral links, or links to its eBay store. These are concentrated in relevant collecting contexts. A commercial relationship does not determine character analysis, lore interpretation, continuity labels, or editorial conclusions.
07 · Images & creative material
Illustration should not become evidence by accident
Visual material is labeled according to its role.
Official Star Wars imagery is used as visual reference and credited where practical. Product imagery should point back to official or appropriate product sources when used in collecting contexts. Generated Fusion Lab imagery represents IDS creative experiments and is never presented as Canon, Legends, leaks, or official concept art.
08 · Page quality
Structured archive pages must clear a publishing gate
IDS treats page structure, depth, sourcing, imagery, and mobile usability as editorial requirements rather than optional polish.
At least 50 words of substantive prose
Major structured archive sections in Species, Planets, Cultures, Organizations, and Religion must contain at least 50 words of prose. Build scripts reject pages that fall below the threshold.
Facts, imagery & connected files
Detail pages require a clear facts panel, a meaningful hero image, source attribution, and routes into related IDS material so the archive remains connected rather than a set of isolated pages.
Readable on smaller screens
Desktop two-column detail layouts must collapse to a single-column reading flow at smaller widths. The central site audit verifies the responsive rule before deployment.
Quality failures block publishing
Broken links, missing metadata, sourcing failures, thin structured sections, required-image problems, and responsive-layout failures can stop the production build before Cloudflare receives the update.
