Galactic Racer Details Four Vehicle Classes Ahead of October 6 Launch
Lucasfilm has detailed the four vehicle classes players will pilot in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, including the debut of the skim speeder, just days before the racing game launches.

Quick read: StarWars.com has published a detailed guide to podracers, skim speeders, speeder bikes, and landspeeders in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The game launches October 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Lucasfilm puts the vehicles under the microscope
With Star Wars: Galactic Racer approaching its October 6 launch, Lucasfilm has published a closer look at the machines that define its version of galactic motorsport. The official StarWars.com guide breaks the playable vehicles into four classes: podracers, skim speeders, speeder bikes, and landspeeders. Each is designed around different handling characteristics rather than functioning as a cosmetic variation on the same racing model.
Podracers remain the most recognizable class. Galactic Racer adds ramjets for additional speed while retaining the high-risk handling associated with the vehicle. Airbrakes help with tight turns but sharply reduce velocity, making speed management part of the class's identity. Speeder bikes emphasize velocity and agility with a Kinetic Burst that can temporarily increase speed at the expense of control. Landspeeders sit at the more stable end of the spectrum, combining durability and predictable handling with drifting and timed ramjet boosts.
The most important lore addition is the skim speeder. StarWars.com describes it as making its debut in Galactic Racer and says the craft was originally associated with smuggling before Galactic League founder Darius Pax introduced it to racing. It uses repulsorlift generators, turbine thrusters, and fuel-powered propulsion. Its signature Knife Edge maneuver lets racers take unusually sharp lines through corners, while slower acceleration makes maintaining momentum important.
A racing game that expands everyday Star Wars technology
Galactic Racer is not simply returning to the podracing of The Phantom Menace. Lucasfilm and developer Fuse Games are using several kinds of repulsorcraft to construct a broader motorsport culture. Earlier official material established the Galactic League as an unsanctioned competition operating in the Outer Rim, with Shade entering the circuit in pursuit of glory and revenge.
That framework allows familiar Star Wars machines to be interpreted outside their usual narrative roles. Speeder bikes have appeared as civilian transport and Imperial military vehicles. Landspeeders are ordinary personal and cargo vehicles across numerous worlds. Galactic Racer converts both into competitive machines alongside purpose-built podracers and the newly introduced skim speeder.
The game launches worldwide October 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Lucasfilm has also confirmed locations including Jakku, Ando Prime, Sentinel One, and Lantaana, placing organized racing inside environments with distinct histories rather than presenting the competition as an isolated arcade setting.
