The Acolyte Revival Talk Is Back, but No Season 2 Is Confirmed

Leslye Headland still wants to continue The Acolyte, Manny Jacinto remains open to returning, and more abandoned Season 2 ideas have surfaced. That is not the same thing as Lucasfilm reviving the series.

Quick read: Interest in The Acolyte has resurfaced because its creator and one of its breakout stars have discussed what a continuation could have explored. No official Lucasfilm announcement currently confirms a second season or replacement series.

What actually happened

The current wave of discussion is being driven by new comments about the continuation that never happened, not by a Lucasfilm renewal announcement. Creator Leslye Headland has said she would still return to the story and has described plans involving Qimir, Vernestra Rwoh, Darth Plagueis, and links to sequel-era lore.

Manny Jacinto has also expressed willingness to return as Qimir, while emphasizing that his interest is tied to Headland and the creative team that built the character. Those comments matter because they show that key participants have not emotionally closed the door on the story.

What they do not establish is production. In the sources reviewed by IDS as of September 27, 2026, Lucasfilm has not announced The Acolyte Season 2, a Qimir spinoff, or another live-action project continuing the same plot.

Why the rumor keeps returning

The Acolyte ended with unusually large pieces of mythology left open. Darth Plagueis appeared only briefly, Qimir's history with Vernestra remained incomplete, Osha's turn toward Qimir had just begun, and the series deliberately positioned the Jedi as an institution managing internal mistakes and political scrutiny.

Those unresolved threads make the show easy to revive in fan discussion because its ending feels more like a bridge than a conclusion. New details about planned future seasons therefore circulate almost like current production news, even when they are descriptions of abandoned plans.

For IDS, the useful distinction is simple: creator interest is real, canceled-season material is real, and audience discussion is real. A new season is still unconfirmed.
