Two worlds revolt against the council of the Six Sisters, beginning a conflict with long consequences for Thyrsian independence.

The political world of the Six Sisters

The Echani Command governed a confederation of six worlds known as the Six Sisters, with its capital on Eshan and authority vested in a female council. In 1154 BBY, Begali rebelled and was joined by Thyrsus. The conflict therefore began within a regional political system, rather than as a direct episode of Republic–Sith warfare.

A cultural distinction becomes a political divide

The Thyrsians were a culturally distinctive Echani population. Later accounts identify differences in social authority, martial practices, and ritual traditions. Their decision to side with Begali reflected political dissent that could not be resolved by assuming all Echani shared identical interests.

The uprising has divergent outcomes

Begali returned to Echani rule within a century, but Thyrsus remained independent. The Thyrsian Sun Guard eventually emerged as a renowned martial organization. The Pact of Almera would confirm Thyrsus's independence in 899 BBY, more than two centuries after the original uprising began.

Anthropological assessment

The Begali Uprising is a case of political difference within a broad cultural grouping. Regional history can be shaped by confederation, rebellion, and contested sovereignty as much as by wars between major galactic powers. Its distinct endpoints for Begali and Thyrsus warn against speaking of one settlement as though it affected both worlds equally.

Interactive evidence lab

Did Begali and Thyrsus both permanently remain outside Echani Command?

No. Begali returned to Echani authority, while the Pact of Almera recognized Thyrsian independence in 899 BBY.

The Begali and Thyrsus uprising

Story evidence and chronology

Begali and Thyrsus rebelled against the Echani Command associated with the Six Sisters. The date records an outbreak of resistance rather than the complete end of disputes over Thyrsian independence. Contemporary visual records of the revolt have not been verified in the article.

Society, coercion and institutional change

The wider Echani cultural sphere was not politically uniform. Resistance by worlds or communities shows that related martial traditions can coexist with competing claims to autonomy. Equating all Echani and Thyrsians as a single political faction would obscure the dispute.
