Newer Canon accounts place the Duros later known as Cad Bane around 62 BBY on Duro. Earlier reference works gave 73 BBY. The revised date is used here because the later material provides a different age basis. Birth years inferred from age should be marked approximate rather than treated as an exact calendar day.

A youth called Colby
Before becoming a notorious bounty hunter, Bane was known as Colby. Tales of the Underworld depicts his relationships with criminals, friends and others in Duro's unequal urban setting. He developed his skills and connections in a particular social environment, rather than appearing fully formed as a professional gunfighter.
A later market for violence
During the Clone Wars, Bane became known for taking dangerous contracts, including assignments involving Jedi targets. His career moved through many employers and jurisdictions. Its expansion illustrates a galactic marketplace in which private armed specialists could operate outside ordinary state military chains of command.
Anthropological assessment
Cad Bane's biography can be studied through social networks, reputation and economic opportunity. It offers a more useful explanation of his professional identity than simply treating criminality as a personality characteristic.

Cad Bane's corrected birth chronology: life, family and institutions
Documented life history
Current Canon chronology places Cad Bane's birth at approximately 62 BBY, inferred from an estimated age in Scum and Villainy combined with the dating of The Phantom Menace era in Star Wars: Timelines. Earlier source material sometimes gave 73 BBY. The date is approximate, not a precise certificate. Tales of the Underworld also depicts parts of his early life under the name Colby.
Anthropological perspective
A figure's chosen name and professional reputation should not erase earlier experiences of poverty, family separation and criminal recruitment. The chronological correction illustrates how historical cataloguing can change when new age evidence is introduced. Two conflicting dates are not evidence that two different individuals were born.
Why are birth dates and illustrations qualified?
Exact infant scenes are not always available. Some year assignments are reconstructed from later ages in source material. A later character portrait is a genuine image of the individual, not a claim to portray their actual birth. Separate early life from later faction membership and career.
