VAYLIN'S SECOND ASSAULT ON ODESSEN
Historical facts and chronology
Later in 3630 BBY Vaylin attacked the Alliance base on Odessen after breaking conditioning that had restricted her powers. The Alliance Commander confronted her, and she was killed in a battle that ended her tenure as Empress. Arcann and Senya could participate according to the player's choices. Valkorion subsequently exploited Vaylin's spirit while still seeking control of the Outlander's body, making it important to distinguish Vaylin's combat death from the later mental confrontation over the Eternal Throne.
Anthropology and political consequences
The later battle brought family domination and political authority into the same confrontation. The conditioned power that had served Valkorion's control over his daughter could become a weapon in his plan to seize another person. A timeline of branching RPG content must record the fixed outcome while acknowledging variable participant choices. The defeat of Vaylin removed a ruler but left unresolved the governance of the automated fleet.

Anthropological assessment
A person's liberation from coercion does not automatically repair the identities and relationships built under that coercion.

The later Odessen assault ends a reign, not the wider struggle for identity
Vaylin launches her major attack on the Alliance's base at Odessen during the struggle for the Eternal Throne. The game positions this campaign after Arcann's overthrow and her own succession, not at the moment the unknown Zakuulan fleet first appeared years earlier. The official SWTOR recap identifies an Alliance battle at Odessen in which Vaylin is defeated. The narrative also records her escape from Valkorion's conditioning, but liberation from one coercive mechanism does not immediately resolve the dangers of her newly enlarged power or her conflicts with family members.
Decisions made by the player can affect whether Arcann and Senya survive to influence the confrontation. The fixed element is Vaylin's death and the loss of her direct authority as Empress. An archive should not turn one optional ally into a required participant or assume that every player saw identical intervening scenes. The subsequent struggle over Valkorion's presence within the Outlander shows why removing the ruler of Zakuul was not the end of the broader crisis.
IDS considers what happens when dynasty, military institutions and family coercion are bound together. One act of violence can end the officeholder's reign without dissolving the automated infrastructure they commanded. The accession dossier explains how the office changed hands; the later mental conflict concerns a different ruler's attempt to impose authority over a person's consciousness.
Historical source test: Did Vaylin's battlefield death also eliminate Valkorion's presence within the Outlander?
Explanation: No. The Valkorion conflict continues in the subsequent Eternal Throne storyline. The encounters involve different adversaries and forms of power.
