A last rescue on Coruscant
Cassian Andor, Ruescott Melshi and K-2SO returned to Coruscant when Kleya needed urgent extraction. The mission crossed Imperial security checkpoints and put the team directly in the path of tactical officers seeking to dismantle Luthen's network.
The stolen information reaches leadership
Kleya told Cassian about the Death Star's secret development and the energy research that concealed it. They carried the information to Yavin 4, where Alliance leaders debated whether they had enough evidence to commit precious forces to the claim.
The next step points toward Jedha
Cassian was tasked with following new leads connected to kyber crystals, Galen Erso and the Imperial superweapon. His investigation soon led toward the Ring of Kafrene and the events of Rogue One.
Anthropological assessment
Intelligence requires more than a reliable informant. It must survive transport, be judged credible by decision-makers and be translated into collective action. The debate at Yavin reveals the political difficulty of committing scarce resources to a threat that remains hidden.

Did the Alliance instantly deploy its entire fleet after Kleya reported the weapon?
No. Rebel leaders debated the evidence and what risks could be justified before the plans were obtained.

Canon / Reign of the Empire · Andor
The Rebel Alliance must decide whether its own intelligence is credible
The final episodes of Andor place Cassian, Kleya Marki and Ruescott Melshi at the point where Luthen Rael's intelligence network is being dismantled. Kleya carries information connected to the Imperial Death Star project, while the ISB attempts to close the Coruscant safehouse. Her desperate communication reaches Yavin 4 and prompts Cassian to return despite the risks to his standing with Alliance command. K-2SO's decision to intervene rather than remain with the ship becomes essential as the group escapes the approaching tactical officers.
The mission succeeds in delivering evidence but does not immediately produce unanimous military agreement. At Yavin 4, Mon Mothma, Bail Organa and other leaders face an extraordinarily difficult claim: the Empire has been building a superweapon capable of destroying whole worlds. For a movement short of ships and reliable allies, acting on incomplete information could also expose the organization to ruin. Cassian's report becomes important when he begins a new mission connected to Jedha, kyber crystals and Galen Erso. These leads join the end of Andor to Rogue One without inventing an intervening battle or claiming the Alliance had already stolen the technical plans.
Information needs trusted carriers
An intelligence report has value only if it can reach decision-makers through a secure chain of people and systems. Kleya's understanding, Cassian's willingness to return, Melshi's experience and K-2SO's physical assistance all make the information portable. None can independently decide the policy of the Alliance.
Political institutions can hesitate for good reasons and bad
The leaders' skepticism was not simply ignorance of the Empire's cruelty. The organization faced uncertainty and scarce resources. The story shows the tension between demands for evidence and the possibility that waiting for certainty may leave too little time to respond to an unprecedented threat.
Did Kleya's intelligence already include the full stolen Death Star plans?
No. The report warned of the project and supplied leads. The actual plan-theft mission belongs to the later Rogue One story, after Cassian's new investigation.

Kleya extracts the Death Star intelligence
Original story and chronology
Following Lonni Jung's warning about the Emperor's hidden energy project, Kleya tried to preserve what remained of Luthen's network. Cassian, K-2SO and Melshi returned to Coruscant to extract her as Imperial Security Bureau investigators closed in. Getting information out was a separate operation from stealing the physical Death Star plans at Scarif. The intelligence helped place the new superweapon in the Alliance's view.
Social history and political consequences
A covert network's survival depends on preserving knowledge when formal offices and safe houses become compromised. Kleya had worked for years in a business that served as an intelligence node. Her escape illustrates the political importance of seemingly mundane roles such as logistics, accounting, communications and handling physical evidence.
Why 1 BBY rather than 0 BBY?
These events take place shortly before the Battle of Yavin. Lucasfilm's modern dating convention uses the Battle of Yavin as year zero, not a full 0 BBY year. Previous duplicate pages with a 0 BBY suffix will be redirected to the 1 BBY entries.
