KARAGGA THE UNYIELDING
Evidence, dates and historical boundaries
The SWTOR codex says Karagga the Unyielding held the office of Supreme Mogul of the Hutt Cartel for nearly two centuries by the Cold War era. That duration supports an approximate accession around 3841 BBY, not an independently attested election or coronation on a precise date. As a younger Cartel boss, Karagga gained reputation by destroying a rival Exchange cell at a purported peace meeting. He later ruled from a lavish palace on Hutta and would be killed in the 3639 BBY confrontation at Karagga's Palace. None of those later details proves exactly how the Cartel voted or negotiated his initial accession.
Anthropological interpretation
The Hutt Cartel operated as a network of families, organized crime and commercial interests rather than a conventional Republic-style territory with a public civil-service bureaucracy. The office of Supreme Mogul coordinated coercive authority and patronage among powerful stakeholders. The myth of Karagga's unstoppable rise drew partly upon a publicized act of deception and extreme violence. A long reign could maintain certain commercial arrangements even while generating resentment and concentrating access to resources.

The Cartel is not a conventional territorial state
Karagga's authority depended on kajidics, trade networks, patronage, coercion, and negotiated Hutt interests.
The title represented influence across a commercial-political confederation rather than ordinary planetary kingship.
Anthropological assessment
Karagga's tenure highlights how species longevity can shape institutional design.
Political expectations about succession, memory, and personal networks look different when one officeholder can remain active for centuries.
