The destroyed battle station becomes a destination

The Sith dagger led Rey to the ruins of the second Death Star on Kef Bir, an ocean moon of Endor. Amid the wreckage she searched the former Emperor's throne room for his wayfinder. Kylo Ren tracked her to the site and destroyed the artifact when she found it, attempting to make a joint journey to Exegol appear to be her only option.

A violent duel and a distant intervention

Rey attacked Kylo in anger, and they fought across the ruined structure. Leia Organa reached toward her son through the Force from the Resistance base on Ajan Kloss. The effort exhausted her remaining strength and she died. Distracted by the connection, Kylo was mortally wounded when Rey stabbed him with his own lightsaber.

Rey chooses to heal her opponent

Rey sensed Leia's death and used the Force to heal Kylo's injury. She then departed, leaving him to confront his memories and the apparition of Han Solo. Ben threw away the red lightsaber that had represented his First Order role and returned to his former name and identity.

Anthropological assessment

The episode intertwines family memory, violence and forgiveness. Leia's maternal connection changes the course of a political confrontation, while Rey's healing demonstrates that a person can reject an opponent's past actions without treating the opponent's death as the only legitimate outcome.

Interactive evidence lab

Did Leia die because the First Order shot down her transport at Kef Bir?

No. Leia was on Ajan Kloss, and her final act was reaching her son through the Force.

Two separate acts change the course of the duel

Rey finds the remains of the second Death Star on Kef Bir and duels Kylo Ren amid the wreckage. Leia reaches out to her son through the Force at great personal cost. Rey wounds Kylo during the distraction and then heals him, leaving the scene shaken. Ben's encounter with the memory of Han follows his mother's intervention.

The sequence must not imply that Leia personally applies Rey's healing power. Leia's outreach, Rey's wound and healing, and Ben's subsequent choice are connected but separate actions. Kinship matters through Leia's appeal, yet Ben's response remains a decision rather than an automatic result of genetic descent.

Who heals Ben after the duel?
What does Leia do?

Leia, Rey and Ben at Kef Bir

The confrontation on the wreckage of the second Death Star connected three very different acts: Rey and Kylo Ren's violent duel, Leia's attempt to reach her son through the Force, and Rey's choice to heal the wound she had inflicted. Leia's exertion cost her life, while Rey's healing created an opportunity for Ben to reflect on the harm he had done. These choices should not be compressed into a single mystical action with no sequence.

The later encounter with a memory of Han Solo affected Ben's decision to abandon Kylo Ren's identity. Leia's intervention, Rey's mercy and that remembered relationship contributed differently to the change. The official film and character Databank are stronger evidence for the dramatic sequence than a speculative explanation of exactly what Leia intended to transmit or how Force healing works in physical detail. A source diagram can show the documented turning points without pretending to portray Leia's private thoughts.

Check your interpretation: Was Leia's death the same physical action as Rey healing Ben?

Explanation: No. Leia reached out to her son, while Rey separately chose to heal his injury.

Three separate decisions alter the confrontation on Kef Bir

Rey's journey to Kef Bir is part of her attempt to locate the Emperor's Sith wayfinder, not an organized assault on a functioning Death Star. The second battle station was destroyed decades earlier, and its submerged wreckage now contains the object she seeks. Kylo Ren confronts her there and destroys the device, hoping to make cooperation with him the only remaining route to Exegol. This decision initiates a duel in which Rey's anger threatens to govern her response to his manipulation.

Leia Organa reaches toward her son through the Force from Ajan Kloss, a location physically separate from the duel. Her final effort distracts him, and Rey stabs him with his own lightsaber. Rey then uses the Force to heal the mortal wound and leaves. Lucasfilm's Kylo Ren biography puts the later vision of Han Solo after these events and describes Ben casting his red weapon away. Leia's appeal, Rey's healing and Ben's subsequent decision are connected, but no one of them should be substituted for all the others.

IDS examines how family memory and individual moral choice intersect with an organized political struggle. The sequence supports an interpretation of reconciliation, but does not undo the damage Kylo caused as Supreme Leader. Compare the earlier search for the dagger and Ben's final act on Exegol. They distinguish a technical quest, a change in identity and a later sacrifice.
