In 3988 BBY, Jarael and the Arkanian Offshoot Edessa were born on Osadia within the social world of the New Generation Project. Wyrick regarded Edessa as the project's triumph and gave her a name reflecting that judgment. Jarael would later escape the institutions surrounding the project and become a major figure during the Mandalorian Wars.

An engineered generation on Osadia

What the record establishes

Jarael and Edessa were born into the New Generation Project on Osadia, where Wyrick judged subjects against adult-defined goals. Edessa was praised as a triumph, a verdict made by the project's leadership rather than by the children it classified. The later comic history establishes the institutional setting. It does not furnish a surviving childhood diary or a record of the infants agreeing to an experiment.

People, institutions and interpretation

The project treated inheritance and bodily difference as resources to be managed by specialists. That frame could decide a child's status before she understood its criteria. Jarael's later life illustrates that labels imposed by an institution do not exhaust the identities people form through escape, care and chosen relationships. The two children should not be described as knowing their later destinies at birth.

Did the children consent to the project's experiments?

No source establishes meaningful informed consent from infants; the adult project assigned them roles.

Children ranked by adult expectations

Edessa was treated as proof that Wyrick's program worked.

Other children were measured against her as examples of success or failure.

A research colony becomes a childhood society

For the children, the academy was not an abstract experiment. It was the social world in which they grew up.

Children are ranked before they can define themselves

Wyrick treated Edessa as proof that the New Generation Project had succeeded while other children became controls, failures, or supporting evidence. Those labels structured status within the academy long before the children could choose their own social identities.

For Jarael, the project was not merely an experiment remembered later. It was a childhood community whose categories followed her after she left Osadia.

Why combine Jarael and Edessa on one timeline entry?

They belong to the same dated project generation and their contrasting treatment explains the hierarchy inside the New Generation Academy.

Did Wyrick actually create the Force sensitivity he wanted?

The project's claims were far less secure than Wyrick's confidence. Later events expose how ideology and ambition distorted his interpretation of results.

Anthropological assessment

The New Generation Project shows how scientific projects create social hierarchies among the people they study.

Categories such as success and failure can shape relationships long after the original experiment ends.
