Following the dart clue, Obi-Wan discovered that information about Kamino had been removed from the Jedi Archives. With help he located the world and traveled there, discovering a stormy ocean planet whose residents operated sophisticated cloning facilities.

An army supposedly ordered for the Republic

Kaminoan leaders explained that they had been manufacturing a massive clone army under a request attributed to the late Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. Obi-Wan and the Jedi Council had not authorized the program. The apparent existence of an army ready for deployment presented an extraordinary political and ethical problem.

Jango Fett as the genetic source

Obi-Wan met Jango Fett, whose DNA served as the template for the clone soldiers. The bounty hunter said he had been recruited by a man named Tyranus. Obi-Wan attempted to detain him, but Fett escaped with Boba and fled to Geonosis.

Anthropological assessment

Kamino demonstrates the transformation of biological reproduction into an organized military industry. The clones were persons trained and classified as military property, raising questions about consent, socialization and control over bodies.

The secret clone army on Kamino: primary history and social context

What the source establishes

Obi-Wan traced a projectile connected to the attack on Padmé to Kamino, a world missing from Jedi Archives maps. Once there, he discovered Kaminoan cloning facilities preparing a Republic army, and learned that Jango Fett had supplied its genetic template. The circumstances of the army's commissioning were obscure to the Jedi, even as the Senate was moving toward military authorization.

People, labor and political institutions

Control of information can determine what an institution sees as possible or lawful. An erased location shaped Obi-Wan's search, while Kaminoan specialists controlled manufacturing techniques that could create an army at scale. The clone troopers themselves were persons raised within a military-industrial system, not simply disposable equipment.

Original media and evidence limitations

The 22 BBY events are depicted in Attack of the Clones and related official stories, apart from the earlier Senate and Separatist political developments depicted across books and series. The illustration is symbolic, and its diagram labels do not supply dialogue or casualty statistics absent from the underlying work.
