Ten years after the Jedi purge

By 9 BBY, Obi-Wan had withdrawn from the public world of the Jedi and watched over Luke on Tatooine. Reva, the Third Sister, believed that drawing him into a rescue could expose him to Imperial Inquisitors and to Darth Vader.

A child taken from Alderaan

Reva arranged for young Leia Organa to be kidnapped. Bail Organa asked Obi-Wan to find his adopted daughter, forcing him to decide between preserving Luke's secrecy and responding to another child's immediate danger.

The mission crosses occupied worlds

Obi-Wan located Leia on Daiyu and later sought safe passage through Mapuzo. Along the way he encountered Imperial checkpoints, bounty hunters, spies and people secretly helping refugees escape the regime.

Anthropological assessment

The rescue explores competing obligations between protective guardians. Obi-Wan's choice to help Leia also exposes how abduction can be used by a government agent to manipulate intimate relationships for political ends.

Reva uses Leia to draw Obi-Wan out: the source account

Original narrative and chronology

In Obi-Wan Kenobi, Reva Sevander attempted to capture the surviving Jedi by exploiting his ties to Bail Organa's family. Kidnappers took young Leia, forcing Obi-Wan to leave his hidden life on Tatooine for a rescue mission. The plot unfolded across Daiyu and Imperial-held worlds, then intersected with the Hidden Path and Reva's own history as a survivor of the Jedi Temple assault.

Anthropological interpretation

The case shows how kinship can create vulnerability under authoritarian surveillance. Leia was not a military combatant; abduction was used to manipulate adult decision-making. Reva's pursuit of Obi-Wan also drew on trauma and revenge, but those motives do not negate the danger imposed on a child.
