A Ferrix business becomes a communications link

Salman Paak operated Repaak Salyard on Ferrix, a world with a strong culture of salvage and repair. In 7 BBY he was recruited into Luthen Rael's covert network, which used legitimate businesses and intermediaries to support anti-Imperial organizing.

A radio that connects communities

Salman's hidden communications equipment eventually allowed Bix Caleen to reach Luthen, who presented himself publicly as a Coruscant antiquities dealer. The arrangement depended on keeping separate participants from knowing every part of the network.

Discovery and retaliation

When the Imperial Security Bureau investigated Ferrix during the events of Andor in 5 BBY, agents traced communications to Salman. He was imprisoned and interrogated, and his son Wilmon later became involved in resistance actions.

Anthropological assessment

Secret networks often rely on the labor and material resources of people whose names are unknown to the general public. A repair shop can become political infrastructure when it provides communications, shelter, and social trust.

Salman Paak becomes a secret contact: the source account

Original narrative and chronology

Salman Paak operated a salvage business on Ferrix and became associated with Luthen Rael's covert resistance network. The business made equipment and communications activity less conspicuous in a town where repair, reuse and buying industrial scrap were common livelihoods. His son Wilmon would later be drawn into violent conflict with Imperial forces. The earliest date assigned to the connection should be treated as approximate.

Anthropological interpretation

Resistance cells require mundane infrastructure as much as celebrated leaders. A working radio, access to vehicles and a business address could matter to organizers trying to avoid a state security service. When Imperial investigators targeted Salman, pressure on one family also affected a network of neighbors and coworkers.
