A recruit enters Imperial training
Bodhi Rook enrolled at the Terrabe Sector Service Academy around 7 BBY. He sought a career as a pilot in a galaxy where Imperial institutions controlled many routes into formal aerospace employment. The academy provided military training rather than an independent civilian flight school.
Skills developed for an authoritarian military
Flight competence, logistics, and knowledge of Imperial transport systems would later make Bodhi valuable to a very different cause. The date records his entry into the profession, not the point at which he became a rebel or learned about the Death Star.
A later crisis of conscience
As an Imperial cargo pilot, Bodhi eventually came into contact with Galen Erso and defected to Saw Gerrera with vital information about the Empire's superweapon. His later decision depended in part on access acquired during Imperial service.
Anthropological assessment
Military recruitment shapes careers and networks even for people who later reject the state. The transfer of professional skills across opposing institutions is a recurring part of rebellion histories.

Bodhi Rook enters Imperial pilot training: the source account
Original narrative and chronology
Before his defection in Rogue One, Bodhi Rook pursued aviation training at the Terrabe Sector Service Academy around 7 BBY. Imperial institutions controlled access to many routes into specialized technical employment. His eventual role as a cargo pilot and witness to the Death Star program came later, after years in an organization whose command structure he would reject.
Anthropological interpretation
Training provides valuable skills yet also obliges people to institutions they may later oppose. Bodhi's career demonstrates how an Imperial technical profession could become useful to a resistance movement without suggesting that all cadets entered service with rebel intentions.
What makes this source reliable?
These events are in Canon film, game, television or published novel/comic history. Some dates are inferred from chronology and should be read as approximate. Analysis of coercion and institutions is separate from what any actor says in the original narrative.
