In 19 BBY Vice Admiral Rampart orders an orbital bombardment of Kamino's capital, Tipoca City. The Empire first removes valuable military resources and personnel, then sinks the Republic's most important cloning installations beneath the sea, destroying an entire political and industrial world.

Clones become unwanted assets

The new Empire planned to replace its immense clone military with recruited soldiers. Kamino's government, led by Lama Su, could no longer assume that the Imperial administration would honor the old cloning arrangement. The fate of the cloning facilities became a question of control over technological knowledge and biological labor.

A systematic withdrawal

Imperial officials began moving useful clones, staff and equipment away from Tipoca City. Nala Se was taken into Imperial custody for research connected to the Empire's secret projects. The Kaminoan government was deprived of the ability to control its own most valuable institution.

Bombardment from orbit

After Clone Force 99 returned to rescue Hunter, Rampart's warships opened fire. Fire engulfed the domes and bridges, and the structures sank into the planet's oceans. The squad survived by navigating flooded passages, but Kamino's capital and many other facilities were devastated.

Concealment and historical responsibility

Imperial authorities later blamed the destruction on a natural disaster. Recovered command logs would expose the attack, but the Empire redirected the resulting outrage into another stage of its military recruitment program. The destruction illustrates how a government can erase the evidence of its own past alliances.

Was Tipoca City destroyed by a natural storm?

No. Imperial warships bombarded the evacuated installations. The storm explanation was a cover story.

The destruction of Tipoca City: source and social analysis

Historical sequence and documented actions

Imperial officers dismantled the Republic's cloning infrastructure on Kamino as the Empire shifted toward other ways of raising soldiers. Vice Admiral Rampart ordered orbital bombardment of Tipoca City after military personnel and resources had been removed. The city collapsed into the ocean, destroying buildings central to Kaminoan industry, government and the upbringing of generations of clone troops.

Power, family and institutional consequences

The attack was more than the destruction of an industrial site. It erased built infrastructure containing local political authority, medical knowledge, and the setting in which clones had formed social ties. The Empire's decision illustrates how a new state can discard institutions that produced its own military when the institutions no longer fit the leadership's preferred form of control.
