Doctor Aphra treats the past as a field of opportunity. Ancient weapons, ruins, artifacts, droids, and forbidden sites can become sources of money, information, leverage, or danger depending on who controls them.
That makes her an unusually useful character for IDS because archaeology is never neutral in her stories. Recovering an object immediately raises questions about ownership, interpretation, theft, preservation, and who is willing to kill for access.
Survival through unstable relationships
Aphra repeatedly survives by building relationships with people she may later betray, disappoint, manipulate, or genuinely care about. Her alliances with Vader, Sana Starros, Triple-Zero, BT-1, and others rarely fit simple categories of friendship or employment.
The pattern gives her stories an underworld social structure where trust is valuable precisely because it is scarce. Aphra’s intelligence keeps her mobile, but the consequences of using people accumulate around her.
