Make the game run and control better

Patch-aware instructions for PC, PS5 and Xbox. Check your current settings screen and version before copying a binding or assuming an issue is fixed; controller remapping and post-launch hotfixes can change behavior.

Controller guide / All platforms

Use the bindings shown by your own game

PS5 / DualSense

Open Settings → Controls to verify acceleration, braking, maneuver and boost bindings. A commonly reported PlayStation-style default uses R2 to accelerate and L2 to brake. Binding schemes may be modified, so on-screen prompts take precedence.

Xbox controller

Open the game controls page and confirm your RT/LT acceleration and braking bindings plus the button used to switch boost mode. Check whether your input is detected as a controller before changing steering sensitivity.

PC / Keyboard

Inspect Keyboard Bindings and rebind steering or boost if two actions collide. Test a single lap in Arcade to distinguish an input problem from a handling problem.

Accessibility and assists

Consider camera settings, subtitles, controller remapping, tutorial prompts and boost assists when available. A readable racing line matters more than an impressive cinematic camera angle.

Patch notes and official support

Check the publisher's patch index for current fixes before following an older workaround. The October 8 and 12 notes below describe historical updates and are not a real-time list of remaining issues.

Official patch context

What's fixed, and what is only a workaround?

OCT 08, 2026

Driver checks and DLSS

The official hotfix raised the minimum supported graphics driver check at startup and applied DLSS stability fixes. Updating the driver can trigger a longer first launch while shaders rebuild.

OCT 12, 2026

General stability

The next hotfix described general stability work. That short note does not prove every previously documented issue is resolved.

Practical troubleshooting steps

My PC stutters on the first race after an update

Check the game version and graphics drivers, then let the first shader compilation finish. Retest at a consistent resolution without changing multiple settings at once. Record whether frame drops occur in menus, loading or gameplay.

DLSS, upscaling or frame generation causes a crash

Install the October 8 or newer patch and supported driver. Disable the affected upscaling feature temporarily and test native rendering, then re-enable one option at a time. If persistent, supply the publisher support channel with hardware and driver version.

My controller actions don't match the guide

Open your current binding screen and recheck the selected input device and custom layout. Reset only a specific control if needed, then practice the vehicle's signature maneuver in Arcade.

Online party does not reconnect

Restart the game after the current patch, check platform network access and party privacy, then recreate the party. An outdated issue list should not be treated as evidence of an ongoing outage.

Steam Deck shows overlay or login complications

Check the currently installed game and Steam client versions, the publisher's Epic Online Services guidance and any Proton compatibility notes. Avoid deleting save data as a routine fix.

My save or progress appears missing

Do not overwrite or remove local/cloud saves in an attempt to troubleshoot. Confirm the profile and account, disable accidental cross-account sign-in, and contact official support with the patch version and what is missing.
