Kreia manipulated Colonel Tobin into telling Darth Nihilus that a concentration of Jedi existed on Telos. Nihilus attacked Citadel Station with the Ravager and a Sith fleet, expecting to feed on Force-sensitive life. Instead he encountered a coalition of Republic forces under Carth Onasi, Telos Security, troops from Onderon and Dantooine, Mandalorians under Canderous, and Meetra's companions.

THE BATTLE OF TELOS IV

Events and source limitations

During 3951 BBY, Darth Nihilus brought his flagship Ravager and Sith warships against Telos IV. He had been led to believe that Jedi would be present in numbers sufficient to satisfy his Force hunger. Republic forces under Carth Onasi and other defenders, with help from groups encountered during Meetra’s journey, resisted. Meetra and allies prepared to board the Ravager and end Nihilus’s threat. Telos’s status as a major reconstruction experiment made its defense politically important beyond the immediate tactical result.

People, institutions and consequences

The attack brought together institutions with different interests: the Republic fleet, local Telos security, refugees and restored Mandalorian forces. Their cooperation defended a fragile investment in recovery rather than simply a military installation. Nihilus’s reasoning treated sentient communities as nourishment; their organized resistance showed social bonds and logistics matter as well as Force strength. The survival of a reconstruction project became a contested form of Republic legitimacy.

Earlier local choices become military capacity

Dantooine militia and Onderonian forces can appear because those communities survived and allied with Meetra.

The game makes social relationships accumulated across planets visible in the final coalition.

Nihilus attacks a false target

His hunger makes the report of Jedi concentration strategically irresistible.

Kreia weaponizes an adversary's dependency rather than overpowering him directly.

Anthropological assessment

The defense of Telos shows coalition warfare built through prior reciprocal relationships.

Political capital accumulated through local assistance can become literal military support during a later crisis.

Telos was the Republic's reconstruction experiment

Telos IV had suffered devastating bombardment during the Jedi Civil War. By the time of the Dark Wars, the Republic had invested in a restoration project intended to return damaged environments to sustainable life. Citadel Station served as an administrative and logistical center of that effort. An attack on the station therefore threatened more than a fleet anchorage: it endangered the social, ecological and technical systems on which the recovery of the planet depended.

Several groups defend a common future

Meetra Surik returned to find a Sith assault underway. The defense involved Republic forces, the Telos Security Force, and reinforcements associated with the worlds and allies Meetra had encountered. This broad participation matters because the story is not reducible to a duel between two Force-users. Telos could only be defended if institutions and fighters with different histories cooperated.

The enemy's flagship becomes the objective

Darth Nihilus commanded the damaged warship Ravager. The assaulting team boarded it, planted explosive charges and confronted Nihilus on the bridge. Meetra's unusual relationship to the Force prevented the Sith Lord from feeding on her in the manner he had used against other victims. Visas Marr's connection to Nihilus and Canderous Ordo's Mandalorians were also part of the boarding operation. The defeat of Nihilus and destruction of the warship ended the immediate existential threat to Telos.

Game outcome and later historical summary

The main battle is directly depicted in Knights of the Old Republic II. A later Old Republic Galactic History codex summarizes the same episode, describing the defense of Telos, Nihilus's failed attempt to consume the Exile and his defeat aboard the Ravager. The codex helps establish the shared historical result while the game preserves more of the character dialogue and tactical progression.

Anthropological extension: reconstruction as political legitimacy

Telos demonstrates that rebuilding is an institutional promise. The Republic's restoration effort required scientific knowledge, environmental management, funding and confidence that the planet would not be ruined again. A successful defense protected those investments and affirmed a political commitment to repairing wartime destruction. The attack also shows how recovery sites can become targets precisely because their success would demonstrate an alternative to Sith domination.

The Battle of Telos places recovery under attack

Event phases: Restoration at risk, Nihilus attacks, Ravager boarded
Original IDS analytical illustration. It is neither gameplay imagery nor a claim of recorded troop movement or elapsed time.

The threatened world was the Republic's experiment

Telos IV was being rebuilt after wartime destruction, and Citadel Station was an active center of habitation, services and environmental administration. Destroying the station or the rebuilding effort would have undermined the Republic's public claim that devastated planets could recover. The Sith attack therefore targeted a political symbol and a vulnerable infrastructure system as well as a military location. It was not merely a battle over a deserted ruin left behind by the Jedi Civil War.

Different groups join the same defense

Republic naval forces associated with Carth Onasi, local security and Mandalorian fighters become involved in the defense. Help from different planets reflects relationships that can depend on the player's earlier choices, particularly on Onderon and Dantooine. Describing every imaginable ally as automatically present in every game route would confuse the story's branching structure. The broader light-side tradition emphasizes a coalition responding to an immediate danger rather than a new unified galactic army commanded by Meetra alone.

A false promise pulls Nihilus into danger

Kreia's manipulations encouraged the belief that Telos offered an extraordinary concentration of Force users. Nihilus arrived aboard the Ravager expecting a target suitable for his hunger, but his assumption did not match the actual situation. Meetra's team and allied forces exploited the opportunity to attack his flagship. The battle is the setting for the separate event of Nihilus's death, not itself an explanation that his entire Sith organization vanished in a moment.

Test your historical judgment: Was Nihilus drawn to Telos by a verified gathering of Jedi Masters?

Analysis: No. His attack was induced through manipulated intelligence about Force-sensitive targets. The defending coalition and boarding of the Ravager matter more than the promised feast.
