A scrapper on Bracca
Five years after Order 66, Cal Kestis survived by dismantling Republic warships on Bracca while concealing his Force powers. When he exposed himself to save a co-worker, Imperial Inquisitors pursued him. Cere Junda and Greez Dritus rescued him aboard the Stinger Mantis.
Finding the holocron
Cal traveled through ancient Jedi sites with droid BD-1, seeking a holocron containing the names of Force-sensitive children. He encountered surviving Force traditions, Wookiee resistance to Imperial resource extraction, and opponents including the Second and Ninth Sisters.
The danger of rebuilding through a list
On Nur, Cal recovered the holocron after confronting Trilla Suduri and the Inquisitorius. He then concluded that gathering the children would expose them to Imperial persecution. He destroyed the holocron, protecting their anonymity rather than establishing an immediately vulnerable new Order.
Anthropological assessment
The decision highlights the tension between institutional restoration and responsibility to individuals. A list can be a tool of care when held securely, but an instrument of surveillance and persecution when captured by a hostile government.

Did Cal use the holocron to build a visible new Jedi academy?
No. He destroyed it to avoid endangering the Force-sensitive children it identified.

Cal Kestis refuses a new Jedi registry: verified narrative
What happened and what remains separate
Cal Kestis survived Order 66 and concealed his abilities while dismantling old Republic warships on Bracca. When Inquisitors detected him, Cere Junda and the crew of the Stinger Mantis helped him search for a holocron containing names of Force-sensitive children. After confronting the Second Sister on Nur, Cal chose to destroy the list rather than expose the children to capture or compel them into a rebuilt institution.
Power, identity and historical geography
Cal's decision treats children's safety and freedom as more important than an organizational ambition to replenish Jedi ranks. The abandoned warships of Bracca demonstrate how a new regime turned the previous Republic's military into salvage labor, while Inquisitors weaponized religious identification as a tool of surveillance.
Chronology and source limits
The event date is a placement in Canon chronology, sometimes approximate. Books, movies and games were released in other real-world years. Character portraits from later stories do not depict every earlier scene.
