A moon pulled down as a weapon
The Yuuzhan Vong used a dovin basal organism to alter the orbit of Sernpidal's moon Dobido, sending it into the planet. The act formed part of an invasion tactic that used gravitational manipulation to devastate inhabited worlds rather than relying only on ship-mounted weapons.
Han and his companions organize an evacuation
Han Solo, Chewbacca and the younger Anakin Solo were on Sernpidal when the approaching catastrophe became apparent. They tried to rescue residents and reach the Millennium Falcon amid dangerous winds and a collapsing environment.
A final act of protection
Anakin was nearly lost during the evacuation. Chewbacca pulled him toward safety but could not get aboard the Falcon himself. Han was forced to leave as Dobido struck the planet. The long-lived Wookiee who had survived the Empire and civil war died rescuing a member of the Solo family.
The consequences for a family
Han's grief severely affected his relationship with Anakin and the rest of his family. The invaders' arrival was no longer an abstract strategic question. For people who had spent decades protecting one another, it began with an irreparable loss.
Anthropological assessment
Sernpidal exposes the fragility of family obligations under catastrophe. Chewbacca's final rescue also raises the problem of assigning blame when a survivor cannot control the conditions of another person's death.
