Life under the White Worms

Han and Qi'ra were young members of Lady Proxima's criminal network on Corellia. Their daily lives involved dangerous work and the hope of escaping an organization that controlled resources and punished defiance.

An attempted escape

The pair acquired valuable coaxium and attempted to leave the planet. At an Imperial checkpoint, Han passed through the gate but Qi'ra was caught, separating them. He lacked the resources to rescue her immediately.

An Imperial enlistment

Han signed up for military service in the hope of learning to fly and gaining the skills to return. An officer assigned the surname Solo during recruitment. Years of service followed before he met Chewbacca in the muddy campaign on Mimban.

Anthropological assessment

The episode connects poverty, criminal dependency and enlistment. Han did not join the military as an ideological believer in the Empire; it offered a route away from conditions he perceived as inescapable.

Han and Qi'ra are separated on Corellia: verified narrative

What happened and what remains separate

Han and Qi'ra tried to escape the White Worms criminal organization on Corellia using stolen coaxium. At the spaceport checkpoint Han got through, but Qi'ra was detained and returned to the control of Lady Proxima's network. Han then enlisted in Imperial service, hoping to become a pilot and return for her. The encounter belonged to their youth, not the later Dryden Vos operation.

Power, identity and historical geography

Criminal patronage and Imperial border controls both limited the couple's mobility. Coaxium functioned as a means of escape because it could be converted into passage through a state-controlled checkpoint. Their separation exposed different consequences for two people with similar dreams but unequal access to the transit system.
