- Besrik captured or otherwise removed from the chase
After Shae Vizla freed Darth Malgus, the Alliance traced the prison breakout to Greb Besrik, a Mon Calamari slicer from Shae's mercenary crew. Around 3623 BBY, the Alliance Commander and Rass Ordo followed him to Hoth. Their search moved from Shai Tenna's pleasure den through White Maw contacts and finally into the wreckage of the Star of Coruscant, an enormous Republic dreadnaught that had crashed during the Great Galactic War centuries earlier.
A slicer's digital signature becomes evidence
Besrik was linked to the prison break through a distinctive slicing modulation pattern. Investigators were not following a visual witness or physical footprint but a technical style left in security systems.
That turns software behavior into forensic evidence. A person's habits can identify them even when they operate remotely.
Hoth's wrecks preserve old wars inside new ones
The Star of Coruscant had crashed during the Great Galactic War and later became a White Maw fortress. By 3623 BBY, it served yet another role as terrain in the Mandalorian civil-war investigation.
The same material structure therefore connected conflicts separated by centuries.
Rass wants answers about Shae, not merely an arrest
The mission's emotional center is the question of why Shae freed Malgus. Greb is valuable because he worked with her closely enough to reveal how the new alliance formed.
Capturing him is therefore a means of reconstructing relationships and motives rather than simply punishing a criminal act.
Besrik confirms Shae and Malgus are operating together
The pursuit establishes that Shae and Malgus are staying close and moving as partners toward a common destination. That revelation pushes the investigation toward Ilum and, eventually, Khar Shian.
The mission is therefore the missing bridge between the Tatooine base strike and the Emperor's Fortress investigation.

Explore the event
Why is Hoth still important centuries after the Great Galactic War?
Its battlefield wrecks became infrastructure. Pirates, salvagers, investigators, and armed factions repeatedly reused abandoned ships and technology.
What makes slicing style identifiable?
Like coding habits or repeated technical methods, a slicer can leave patterns in how systems are bypassed. The story treats Besrik's modulation signature as a forensic clue.
What happens to Greb Besrik?
The player can kill him or assign him to different custody, so there is no single universal post-mission fate.
Anthropological assessment
The Hoth pursuit shows how ruins remain socially active. A battlefield does not stop being historical when combat ends; abandoned objects can be repeatedly appropriated by later communities.
It also turns technical practice into identity. Slicing is not only a skill but a patterned form of behavior capable of leaving a recognizable social signature.

What the source supports
The Alliance investigation takes its search for information about Shae Vizla and the Hidden Chain into Hoth's wreck-strewn environment. Snowfields and derelict ships create physical obstacles that shape the movement of people and the recovery of technical information. A slicer's activities are part of the pursuit, but the official 7.6 material treats many Hoth encounters as repeatable gameplay.
Institutions, beliefs and material culture
Hoth's wreckage is a form of accidental material heritage. Abandoned ships continue to shape opportunities for shelter, salvage and concealment. Mission-specific details should be traced to in-game dialogue or quest records, not assumed from the publisher's broad overview of Hoth dynamic encounters.
Evidence limits and dating
These events follow SWTOR's Legends narrative. The BBY date is a historical placement and may not appear in the official release notes; a game's 2023–2025 publication date is not a fictional in-universe date. Dialogue and choices may vary, and unreported details remain unknown.
