Barel Ovair and Eison Gynt enter Naga Sadow's tomb on Yavin 4

A Jedi Master secretly serving the hidden Sith Empire takes his Padawan into Naga Sadow's tomb to destroy a dangerous Sith spirit.

In 3756 BBY, Jedi Master Barel Ovair and his Nautolan Padawan Eison Gynt traveled to Yavin 4, officially to investigate Sith ruins. Ovair was secretly part of a family serving Vitiate's hidden Sith Empire and had been tasked with destroying old Sith spirits that might challenge the Emperor's authority. Inside Naga Sadow's tomb, the mission failed and Gynt was left behind.

Infiltration reaches the Jedi Order

Ovair demonstrates that Sith preparation included covert penetration of Republic religious institutions.

His Jedi credentials gave him access to places and students useful to an Imperial mission.

Old Sith spirits are treated as political rivals

The target was not the Republic but Naga Sadow's lingering presence.

Vitiate sought to monopolize Sith authority before revealing his Empire.

Anthropological assessment

The mission shows how clandestine states use institutional trust as infrastructure.

It also reveals conflict inside a tradition over who has authority to represent the past.
