With Freia Kallea missing after her crash, Thoax and Farge Osaax moved to exploit the opening. Beginning in 3701 BBY, the Neimoidian scouts charted what became the Seswenna Expansion, pushing route knowledge from Malastare toward Clak'dor VII and farther south.

THE SESWENNA EXPANSION BEGINS

What the sources establish

Beginning in 3701 BBY, the Neimoidian scouts Thoax and Farge Osaax mapped a southern hyperspace extension while their rival Freia Kallea was missing on Nuvar. The Seswenna Expansion linked the Malastare end of the Dustig Trace through places including Darkknell and Seswenna toward Clak'dor VII and the Rimma Trade Route. The work continued until around 3699 BBY. This was an independently charted segment later incorporated into the broader Hydian Way, not an expedition led by Kallea herself during her time stranded. Naming the Osaax brothers and dates is important even though their sabotage makes them unsympathetic protagonists.

Institutions, identity and social consequences

Transportation history is shaped by overlapping investments and contested authorship. A final corridor can include work by rivals who opposed one another, and commercial institutions may subsequently present the network as the achievement of a single founder. The Seswenna Expansion altered access among Mid Rim and Outer Rim economies while giving the Osaax interests an opportunity for profit. The incident shows how political economy influences which maps are created and whose labor is remembered.

A rival can inherit unfinished infrastructure

The Osaax brothers use Kallea's absence to continue a project whose commercial value is already visible.

Route construction becomes cumulative even across hostile competitors.

Authorship of infrastructure becomes contested

Later histories remember multiple contributors to the Hydian Way.

Credit is difficult to assign cleanly when a network is built from older routes, rival surveys, and later consolidation.

Anthropological assessment

The Seswenna Expansion shows that infrastructure rarely has one creator.

Competition can accelerate construction while also producing disputes over ownership, naming, and historical credit.

The rival expedition becomes part of a shared network

The Neimoidian scouts Thoax and Farge Osaax took advantage of Kallea's absence after her crash on Nuvar. Beginning around 3701 BBY, they carried out surveys known as the Seswenna Expansion, seeking to extend the southern route through the region associated with Malastare and eventually toward Eriadu. Their effort continued over several years rather than producing an immediate completed transgalactic line. The surviving sequence places the progress of their expansion alongside the interruption of Kallea's personal survey work.

The result complicates any simple history of a single heroic discoverer. Freia Kallea is closely associated with the creation of the Hydian Way, and Banu Hydia's later role explains its name. Yet other navigators, including hostile competitors, contributed routes incorporated into the finished system. A transport network can be collectively useful even when its creation involved attempts to exclude or defeat particular participants. The difference between benefiting from an improvement and approving the conduct of its makers remains important.

Infrastructure has contested authorship

A modern route may combine old paths, surveys by rivals and later work undertaken after accidents or deliberate interference. Determining credit requires looking at each contribution separately rather than assigning every kilometer to one famous navigator.

Cooperation and conflict can leave the same map

The route that emerged from exploration served travelers who never witnessed the rivalry. The lasting map thus connects social actors who had not agreed on purpose, ownership or ethics. The underlying history remains more complicated than the smooth line drawn on the final chart.

Did the Seswenna Expansion mean the Neimoidian scouts had invented the entire Hydian Way?

No. The expansion was a later component built from and alongside earlier corridor work. The finished route depended on numerous previously existing and newly surveyed segments.

Historical context: Charting a new commercial corridor

Surveying new routes redistributes risk and potential advantage among travelers and trading worlds.

Anthropological lens: Political power depends on control of institutions, transport and shared loyalties as well as battlefield outcomes. This paragraph is analysis, not an additional undocumented event.

Evidence check: what can we infer?

The documented event supports discussion of its wider context. It does not prove unrecorded dialogue, unnamed participants' intentions, exact casualties or precise logistical quantities.
