The Treaty of Coruscant collapses
What actually happened and when?
Around 3641 BBY the Treaty of Coruscant formally ceased to govern relations between the Republic and the Sith Empire, opening the Galactic War as an unambiguously active state-to-state conflict. The Cold War had already deteriorated through proxy battles and attacks during the preceding years, especially 3642. Later 3640 campaigns on Belsavis, Corellia and Ilum occurred after this breakdown. Chronologies differ in exactly where they place the transition from proxy war to open war, so the article distinguishes gradual military escalation from the conventional political date of treaty dissolution.
Identity, institutions and anthropology
The point at which a war begins is partly an administrative judgement. Communities exposed to covert warfare could already be experiencing severe harm when politicians still used the word peace. Formal treaty failure changed what military acts governments were prepared to acknowledge and how they justified mobilization. This separation of written law from lived insecurity is particularly important for frontier populations abandoned under the original 3653 agreement.
Interpret the chronology without turning inference into fact
This archive distinguishes the recorded action in 3641 BBY from later outcomes and adaptations. Public reports, intelligence assessments, retrospective histories and characters' private claims are not automatically equivalent types of evidence. Events without an exact contemporary date are marked approximately.

Anthropological assessment
War and peace are institutional categories with real effects. Formal collapse changes mobilization, legal authority, resource allocation, and expectations of violence.
