A rebel haven becomes exposed
Phoenix Squadron and allies used Atollon as a base for ships, supplies, and training. Grand Admiral Thrawn identified the location after investigating rebel communications and agents, then moved his fleet to trap their forces before a planned offensive.
An unequal fleet battle
Thrawn's ships blockaded the system and attacked the rebel fleet. The rebels attempted to break out and call for reinforcements. The Imperial assault destroyed many vessels and left the base vulnerable to a ground assault.
Bendu intervenes
The mysterious Force-sensitive Bendu emerged during the ground battle and created a storm that disrupted both Imperial and rebel forces. The confusion aided the evacuation, but the rebels lost their base and considerable military strength.
Anthropological assessment
Atollon reveals a central problem of organized resistance: concentrating command, aircraft and supplies can strengthen cooperation but also create a single target whose loss endangers an entire network.

The Battle of Atollon
Historical sequence and evidence
Grand Admiral Thrawn located the Rebel base on Atollon and brought an Imperial fleet to surround its forces. The planned rebel attack on Lothal could not proceed. The situation was changed by the intervention of the Bendu, while Ezra and other members of the Ghost crew helped secure a route of escape. The battle damaged Rebel equipment and organization without eliminating every survivor.
Political authority and collective identities
The Atollon base depended on coordination among squadrons, supply networks and distant allies. Thrawn's ability to locate it turned the rebels' communications into a vulnerability. Escape depended not on the combat skill of one Jedi alone, but on coordinated action under an encirclement that put the entire emerging coalition at risk.
Original narrative and source qualification
Andor season two and Rebels depict these events within 2 BBY. Their chronology is fictional and differs from the episodes' publication dates. The linked original source provides context and does not imply that promotional art depicts the complete event.
