VERADUN, THE FUTURE DARTH MALGUS
What the sources establish
In 3700 BBY, Veradun, who would become Darth Malgus, was born within the hidden Sith Empire, with later material associating his birthplace with Dromund Kaas. He was trained in Sith institutions from a young age and would eventually lead high-profile attacks during the Great Galactic War, including the Battle of Korriban and the later Sacking of Coruscant. Neither major battle took place in 3700; this entry is a biographical start marker. An existing alternate URL, veradun-born-3700, already redirects to this canonical article and should stay an alias rather than create a duplicate second birth.
Institutions, identity and social consequences
Malgus grew up in an Empire that had prepared for war long before the Republic knew it existed. Childhood within a hidden militarized society involved institutions that reproduced obedience, rivalry and combat values among the next generation. His eventual public identity as Darth Malgus was not identical to the birth name Veradun, making renaming a marker of institutional membership and transformation. The archive should distinguish these broader structures from unrecorded statements about an infant's motives or exact day of birth.

Born into the invasion generation
Malgus's childhood occurred while the Empire was still hidden from the Republic.
For his generation, preparation for the eventual return was not distant history but the organizing purpose of the state.
Anthropological assessment
Malgus's generation shows how militarized societies socialize children into inherited geopolitical projects.
A war can shape people decades before the first battle through training, ideology, and expectations of future enemies.

Why this event matters: The birth of Veradun
The birth of the future Darth Malgus is a biographical anchor, not evidence that his later ideology was inevitable.
Anthropological interpretation: The event can be examined through institutions, social loyalties and the control of resources or information. That analytical perspective should not be confused with additional source-documented scenes.
Evidence check: documented event or interpretation?
The event and its broad place in the chronology are source-based. The social implications above are interpretation; exact private motives, undocumented dialogue and unreported casualties are not asserted.

The future Darth Malgus had a history before his Sith title
The entry for the birth of Veradun concerns the person who would later be called Darth Malgus. SWTOR's official Malgus biography focuses on his adult military career, including the attack on the Coruscant Temple, and his later disputes with Imperial political custom. It does not supply a contemporary birth certificate or a reliable reconstruction of every childhood event. The conventional 3700 BBY date must remain separate from those well-known adult episodes.
As an adult, Malgus associated with an alien partner, Eleena Daru, employed varied mercenaries and learned multiple languages despite suspicion from some other Sith. These facts challenge any simplistic claim that every member of the Sith hierarchy practiced identical attitudes toward non-Humans. They do not establish what the infant Veradun believed. Training and later political experience shaped his public identity and eventually brought him into conflict with other Sith leaders.
IDS studies renaming as an institutional transition. Veradun became Darth Malgus within a system that awarded titles, cultivated obedience and encouraged rival claims to authority. The Temple assault is a documented action from adulthood; the peace initiative establishes the diplomatic context in which that assault occurred. Neither belongs to the birth year. The hero image should be read as later-character art rather than evidence of a birth scene.
Source challenge: Do Malgus's later Imperial reform ideas appear as documented beliefs of a newborn?
What the evidence shows: No. Those ideas and controversies belong to his adult political career, not the 3700 BBY birth marker.
Primary official source: Official Darth Malgus biography. Official story text supports the identified setting and events, but precise BBY dates, private dialogue and complete witness accounts may require additional primary-game or reference-book checking. The anthropological analysis here is IDS interpretation, not a quotation from a character.
