- Final destruction of Tenebrae's surviving essence
The apparent destruction of Valkorion in 3630 BBY did not eliminate every remnant of Tenebrae. A surviving spiritual imprint became entangled with Satele Shan and her students. In 3626 BBY that threat culminated in a mental and spiritual confrontation involving the Commander and manifestations of people connected to the Emperor's long history. The final remnant was overwhelmed and destroyed.
Why 3630 BBY was not actually the end
The Alliance Commander defeated Valkorion's attempt to seize their body, but Tenebrae had left behind other preparations and traces of consciousness.
That distinction matters for chronology. One incarnation ended in 3630 BBY; the final surviving essence was destroyed six years later.
Satele becomes the unwilling host of a historical residue
Satele and her students encountered the Emperor's lingering influence while attempting to understand and contain it. Their minds became the terrain on which the final confrontation developed.
This turned the danger of Tenebrae from an imperial military threat into something closer to inherited trauma given supernatural form.
Former victims become part of the defeat
The confrontation draws on memories and manifestations associated with many people the Emperor had harmed, manipulated, or used across centuries.
The narrative frames his defeat not as one hero overpowering him alone but as the cumulative rejection of the relationships of domination he had created.
The millennia-long Tenebrae/Vitiate/Valkorion story closes
Tenebrae had ruled through changing names, bodies, states, and identities. Echoes of Oblivion closes the last surviving line of that continuity.
Later conflicts could still be shaped by institutions and people he created, but not by another surviving fragment of the Emperor himself.

Why does IDS distinguish Valkorion from Tenebrae here?
They are identities and embodiments of the same being, but the story establishes that defeating one embodied persona in 3630 BBY did not eliminate every surviving spiritual remnant.
Is this a physical battle?
Not in the ordinary military sense. The decisive confrontation occurs through the Force and consciousness, making memory and identity the primary arena.
Why is the correction important?
Because calling 3630 BBY the final destruction erases six years of later story and makes Echoes of Oblivion chronologically incoherent.
Anthropological assessment
Echoes of Oblivion literalizes the idea that political domination can outlive a ruler. Tenebrae's final threat survives as memory, conditioning, and psychic residue after his empires and bodies have already changed or fallen.
His final defeat is collective rather than purely individual. The story turns accumulated victims and relationships into the means by which a ruler obsessed with absorbing others is finally denied control.

Echoes of Oblivion: evidence and material culture
What happened
Echoes of Oblivion confronts a surviving manifestation of Tenebrae's consciousness after earlier defeats ended his immediate political rule. That distinction matters. Destruction of one body or control system need not establish that every remaining Force manifestation has disappeared.
Anthropological interpretation
The episode also examines followers and former servants whose lives remain shaped by the former Emperor. The analytical question is how a ruler's authority can outlast a state through fear, obligation and personal history, while recognizing that the story's Force events are fictional supernatural mechanisms.
Chronology, uncertainty and player choices
The BBY date is a Legends timeline placement and is not automatically established by a real-world game update release. Where the storyline branches, one optional player outcome is not asserted as universal. Recurring game events receive tentative placements.
