Route-level chronology

The Mandalorians captured the Lianna system during the early siege years. From Lianna, their forces split. One route moved through Makem and Quermia; another attacked Jaminere and then pushed south into Hutt Space.

A branching point in the campaign

Lianna's importance came from the routes it opened.

Its capture allowed one victory to generate two simultaneous offensives.

How this raid fits the campaign

Lianna becomes a branching point. After taking Lianna, Mandalorian forces split into separate eastward drives. That makes the system strategically important even when surviving tactical detail is limited.

Why is the date a range instead of a single year?

The existing IDS reconstruction attributes a broad campaign sequence to The Essential Atlas, but its original map and page have not yet been checked for this revision. The exact year of this engagement remains uncertain. IDS therefore keeps the c. 3973–3965 BBY window visible instead of manufacturing precision.

What remains uncertain about this battle?

The exact year, tactical order of battle and original event-specific artwork have not been verified. The route account does not establish those details.

Why the Lianna branch point matters

One recorded line follows Lianna through Makem, Quermia, Kaelta, and Florn. The other passes through Jaminere, Sy Myrth, Taskeed, Dennogra, and Dernatine. This is a route relationship, not a dated fleet deployment schedule.

Source verification: The route account follows the existing IDS summary of The Essential Atlas. The publisher record and Lucasfilm Atlas companion confirm the reference work, but the precise original map/page and the cited Essential Guide to Warfare passage still require direct checking.

Anthropological assessment

A junction gains strategic importance through its connections. This does not establish how the conquered world's population was governed. Campaign geography and local social history require different kinds of evidence.

Lianna demonstrates how network position can matter more than local size.

A transportation node becomes strategically valuable because control multiplies the directions in which force can move.

Lianna: one victory becomes two lines of movement

The capture of Lianna is strategically important not because surviving sources narrate a heroic set-piece battle but because the eastern advance divides after it. One recorded branch passes through Makem, Quermia, Kaelta and Florn; the other passes through Jaminere, Sy Myrth and into Hutt Space through Taskeed, Dennogra and Dernatine. That geographic structure turns Lianna into a junction in the historical account. The route order is useful, but it is not a minute-by-minute account of how many ships left the system or which admiral commanded each detachment.

A military force with more than one avenue of advance can oblige defenders to make decisions about which locations receive protection. That is a plausible campaign-level consequence, not evidence of any recorded Lianna cabinet meeting or population evacuation. A branching map also does not show when a system is securely governed after capture. A fleet might pass through an area without immediately establishing a stable occupation over every settlement, and the surviving Atlas-derived summary cannot resolve that uncertainty on its own.

IDS analyzes Lianna as a transportation node whose significance emerges from its relationships with other locations. A historian reading only the place name would miss the structure of the offensive. Follow the Makem approach and Jaminere approach separately. Their shared origin does not establish that the individual battles took place on exactly the same day.

Investigate the record: Does the split at Lianna prove equal fleet strengths on both branches?

Evidence-based answer: No. The available route information establishes two lines of advance, not their ship totals, start times or commanders.
