The Sith–Imperial War begins as Darth Krayt undermines the Galactic Alliance

By 127 ABY, the Galactic Alliance and a restored Fel Empire faced rising tensions after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Jedi and Yuuzhan Vong collaborators had promoted the Ossus Project, which used living technology to repair damaged ecosystems. Early hopes for restoration gave way to scandal when transformed worlds experienced dangerous failures.

A fragile peace after earlier cataclysms

By 127 ABY, the Galactic Alliance and a restored Fel Empire faced rising tensions after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Jedi and Yuuzhan Vong collaborators had promoted the Ossus Project, which used living technology to repair damaged ecosystems. Early hopes for restoration gave way to scandal when transformed worlds experienced dangerous failures.

Sabotage supplies an apparent reason for war

Darth Krayt's secret One Sith manipulated the crisis and encouraged people to blame the Yuuzhan Vong and the Galactic Alliance. The Fel Empire used these accusations to justify military action. The hidden Sith wanted neither a healthy Alliance nor a stable Fel-led government.

Several groups make different calculations

Imperial loyalists believed they were advancing security and sovereignty, Alliance worlds resisted conquest, and Jedi attempted to protect civilians and defend rehabilitation efforts. Many participants knew little about the Sith leadership shaping the conflict from behind the scenes.

A new galactic war begins

Open conflict spread across systems in 127 ABY and continued until 130 ABY. The fighting damaged the Alliance's capacity to rule while strengthening the military institutions later taken over by Krayt. The war's nominal victor would not ultimately control the outcome.

Anthropological assessment

The war demonstrates how an environmental repair project can become a political scapegoat. Controlling an account of technical failure can be as powerful as controlling the technology itself, especially when fear and prejudice already divide communities.

Did the Sith–Imperial War begin in the same year as Darth Krayt's final defeat?

Documented answer: No. It started in 127 ABY, ended in 130 ABY, and Krayt died in 138 ABY.

Original-source evidence and uncertainty

Star Wars: Legacy #0, published by Dark Horse in 2006, introduces the setting and political factions of the series rather than providing a fully sequential historical narrative. Marvel's later issue #13 confirms an ongoing contest between Darth Krayt and Roan Fel, but cannot independently establish the original outbreak in 127 ABY. The causal role of Yuuzhan Vong biotechnological sabotage and the war's formal opening need to be checked against the original comic and accompanying chronology. Keep the estimated 127 ABY start separate from the 130 ABY coup and later 137 ABY storytelling present.
