Unsettling visions after an apparent victory
In 21 ABY, Luke Skywalker had become increasingly aware of disturbances suggesting a hidden Sith presence. His research into Exegol and related dark-side artifacts exposed a threat that persisted despite Palpatine's defeat at Endor. The New Republic's public peace did not guarantee that secret organizations had disappeared.
A father's search intersects with Sith activity
Lando Calrissian continued looking for his missing daughter Kadara. His investigations led to rumors about Ochi of Bestoon, an assassin associated with Sith-linked plots. Lando and Luke combined their different skills to follow clues across the galaxy.
An old assassin and a new target
Ochi had been ordered to hunt a child whose family was concealing her from the Sith Eternal. Luke and Lando tried to identify the girl and understand how the search related to the hidden world Exegol, but they remained behind the movements of the fugitive family.
Anthropological assessment
The story concerns knowledge networks surviving regime change. Secret cults, personal investigations and records can maintain influence beneath the public institutions of a peacetime republic, even when the government considers the old enemy defeated.

Did Luke and Lando definitively expose and destroy the entire Sith Eternal in 21 ABY?
No. Their investigation revealed clues but the hidden network survived.

Searching for evidence before the First Order crisis
In Shadow of the Sith, Luke Skywalker pursues clues connected to Exegol while Lando Calrissian is searching for his missing daughter. Their investigations intersect with Ochi of Bestoon and dangerous Sith-related activity. The novel belongs earlier than Rey's adventure in The Rise of Skywalker, even though it explains objects and relationships later seen in the film.
Luke and Lando have different motives: a search for a hidden religious-political threat and an attempt to recover a child. Their cooperation illustrates how private loss and institutional research can intersect without becoming identical missions. The supernatural experiences in the story should be identified as fictional Force phenomena, not scientific evidence for a real-world religious claim.

Luke and Lando track a shadow
Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian's investigation in Shadow of the Sith drew together personal loss, a dangerous assassin and evidence of hidden Sith activity. Lando's search for his missing daughter gave him reasons for continuing the inquiry that were not identical to Luke's concern about what remained of dark-side power. Keeping those motivations distinct prevents the historical entry from converting every alliance into a single institution with one shared agenda.
The novel takes place before the collapse of Luke's later Jedi school and provides context for Rey's endangered family. It should not be recast as a mission where Luke already knew every detail about Exegol or where the protagonists successfully captured the assassin before Rey was hidden. Stories of incomplete investigations are historically important because the absence of reliable knowledge can shape later choices. The new figure distinguishes loss, inquiry and the obstacles in tracing Ochi.
Check your interpretation: Did Luke and Lando complete their investigation with full knowledge of all the Sith Eternal's later plans?
Explanation: No. Their search yielded clues but did not reveal or prevent every later development.

Distinguishing an Exegol vision from a navigated visit
Adam Christopher's novel Shadow of the Sith follows Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian as their different concerns converge on Ochi of Bestoon and Palpatine's surviving network. Luke is disturbed by information about a hidden Sith world, while Lando searches for Kadara, the daughter taken from him. The official publisher description connects Lando's search with the assassin assigned to capture Rey. Those are related lines of investigation, not proof that Lando initially knew the identity of every person involved in the Sith Eternal.
Lucasfilm's substantial excerpt shows Luke using the ancient seeing stone on Tython and finding himself within an extraordinary Force experience of Exegol, where he confronts shadowy attackers and receives aid from Anakin's spirit. Luke questions whether his experience is physically real or a vision. The chronology should preserve that uncertainty rather than state that he piloted a ship through Exegol's navigational barriers in 21 ABY. The excerpt contains Luke's limited viewpoint; it does not reveal the private decisions of every Sith follower or establish the details of all of Ochi's travels.
IDS's anthropological interpretation centers on competing ways of recording hidden knowledge. An ancient religious object, a personal search for family, fragmented intelligence and a formal state investigation would not generate equivalent evidence. Compare the family origin dossier with the family's later separation. They show why a researcher's access to secret information and a family's experience of coercion belong to the same historical period without being identical experiences.
