In 9757 BBY, the Second Herglic Feud took place. The event is poorly documented except for the participation of the Republic's Rocket-Jumper Elite Advance Unit, whose service during the conflict became one of the unit's legendary exploits.
An unusually obscure conflict
The name links the event to the Herglics, but the surviving summary does not provide enough information to reconstruct the political dispute.
IDS therefore avoids treating the feud as a known Herglic civil war, Republic-Herglic war, or commercial dispute without evidence.
The Rocket-Jumper Elite Advance Unit
Republic rocket-jumpers fought in the feud and were remembered for bravery.
Their participation links a military technology developed around 11,000 BBY to a conflict more than a millennium later.
Anthropological assessment
The Second Herglic Feud is a reminder that military memory can survive through the reputation of a unit even when the larger political context disappears.
What later institutions choose to commemorate can determine which fragments of a conflict remain visible.

Second Herglic Feud: a name preserved, a battle history largely missing
What the record establishes
The Second Herglic Feud is dated to 9757 BBY in Legends histories. The clearest preserved detail is that the Republic's Rocket-Jumper Elite Advance Unit saw service in the fighting. A 2014 StarWars.com publication of unused Essential Guide to Warfare material places the feud among campaigns remembered in the unit's record.
Anthropological analysis
Regimental memory can preserve the name of a war while leaving the participants on the other side and the affected local populations obscure. The reference to rocket-jumpers identifies a form of airborne military service, not proof that the entire feud took place on Herglic homeworlds. Caution is important because filling gaps with plausible battles would turn a fragmentary source into fiction.
Dating and source limitations
The surviving account does not identify the triggering dispute, the principal commanders, a battlefield, casualties or an outcome. Do not infer that the Republic won merely because its military remembered participating.
Check the evidence: Can we name the winner and the decisive battlefield?
Correction and explanation: No. The extant source documents the date and rocket-jumper involvement, not a complete campaign or outcome.
