The Twelfth Pius Dea Crusade devastates Zarracina III

Commodore Daymont Praji leads a Pius Dea campaign against the Zarracines and Teirasans; orbital bombardment leaves Zarracina III irradiated and nearly destroys its native society.

In 11,660 BBY, the Twelfth Pius Dea Crusade targeted the Zarracines and Teirasans. On Zarracina III, Republic forces under Commodore Daymont Praji used orbital bombardment on a scale that transformed the planet into an irradiated wasteland. The native Zarracines were reduced to a near-extinct nomadic population, and the system was annexed by the Republic.

The Twelfth Crusade

Zarracina III's ruling council refused Pius Dea demands. As conquest became imminent, the council died rather than submit to forced conversion.

Republic bombardment triggered radioactive winter conditions and devastated the world's ecological and urban systems.

The Republic annexed the Zarracina system after the campaign.

Commodore Daymont Praji

Praji commanded the Republic forces associated with the bombardment. His family name would remain prominent in much later galactic military history.

The event is one of the rare Pius Dea campaigns where a named operational commander survives in the record.

War changes ecology

Orbital bombardment did not simply defeat armed resistance. It altered the physical environment on which civilian life depended.

The resulting nomadism was produced by military destruction rather than an ancient cultural preference.

Conquest followed by annexation

The system's formal incorporation into the Republic converted destruction into territorial expansion.

Pius Dea ideology therefore combined missionary language with a material enlargement of state-controlled space.

Anthropological assessment

The destruction of Zarracina III shows the extreme endpoint of ideological warfare: a state can redefine an inhabited world as a target whose population is treated as an obstacle to purification and annexation.

The survivors' shift into nomadism also demonstrates that environmental destruction is social destruction. Bombardment altered settlement patterns, subsistence, political institutions, and collective memory at the same time.
