Savage was chosen through Nightsister intervention to become Count Dooku's new agent. Mother Talzin's magick increased his size, strength, and aggression. The transformation is important because his body itself becomes a site of political control.
Used by competing masters
Dooku trained Savage while Ventress intended to use him against Dooku. Savage was therefore positioned between rival power projects almost immediately. His violence was treated by others as a resource to be directed.
Finding Maul
Talzin eventually sent Savage to locate his brother Maul. Reuniting the brothers gave Savage a relationship not based solely on assignment or magical manipulation, although Maul quickly became the dominant partner.
The Shadow Collective
Savage helped Maul build alliances among criminal groups and challenge both the Republic and Separatists. Their rise became significant enough for Darth Sidious to intervene personally, demonstrating the limits the Sith placed on independent dark-side power.

A body remade for someone else’s plan
Savage Opress does not enter Sith politics through ordinary apprenticeship. The Nightsisters select and transform him for use in Asajj Ventress’s revenge against Count Dooku. Magic, training, and coercion change his body until physical strength itself becomes evidence of the role others have chosen for him.
That transformation makes Savage a clear example of power acting directly on the body. He is valued because he can be made into a weapon, while his own earlier identity and relationships are pushed aside.
Kinship becomes a competing claim
Finding Maul gives Savage a relationship that is not based only on assignment. The brothers still organize themselves through violence and hierarchy, but kinship creates a loyalty that Dooku, Ventress, and Mother Talzin cannot fully control.
Their partnership shows both the strength and weakness of that bond. Savage helps Maul rebuild power, yet their political project remains shaped by the same logic of domination that created them. Sidious ultimately destroys the pair by asserting the older Sith hierarchy over their competing claim.
