The corvette requires a professional crew of pilots, officers, technicians, communications personnel, security staff, and diplomatic attendants. Leia's presence adds political authority to a ship already functioning as a mobile institution.
Maintenance and technical labor
A corvette depends on shipyard labor, spares, fuel, and trained engineering crews. Rebel use makes those ordinary logistical needs politically risky because maintenance can expose the ship's movements.
Ownership, authority, and status
The vessel is associated with Alderaan and House Organa, so ownership carries diplomatic status before it becomes openly connected to rebellion. That ambiguity provides cover but also raises the stakes when the Empire captures it.
Doctrine or livelihood
As a blockade runner, the Tantive IV values speed, communications, and the ability to move sensitive personnel or information rather than defeat larger warships head-on.
