One of the first major Great Hunt operations took place on Onderon around 3995 BBY. Jedi including Duron Qel-Droma, Shaela Nuur, and Guun Han Saresh tracked and killed terentateks left in the region after the Great Sith War. Similar missions followed on Yavin 4, Tython, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, and Korriban.

Terentatek hunters return to Onderon
Source-supported history
As part of the Great Hunt, Jedi such as Duron Qel-Droma, Shaela Nuur and Guun Han Saresh joined hunts for terentateks on Onderon and other worlds. The planet had just endured the Beast Wars, Freedon Nadd Uprising and Great Sith War. Returning to it as a hunting ground shows how the consequences of Sith activity remained physically dangerous even after new governments took power.
Institutions, identity and consequences
Duron Qel-Droma was connected to a family name made famous and controversial by Ulic's earlier fall. Participating in the Hunt could create another kind of public memory for the family. The later comic Shadows and Light is particularly useful for the hunters' relationships, while date placement across earlier worlds rests on retrospective Legends references. No single comic panel establishes the exact day each world was cleared.
Was Onderon's Great Hunt mission another battle against Queen Amanoa?
No. Amanoa died during the 4000 BBY Battle of Iziz. The 3995 BBY mission targeted dangerous Sith-altered creatures that survived the wars.

Onderon carries another legacy of Sith conflict
The world had already endured centuries of Naddist politics and the Beast Wars.
Terentateks added a biological remnant of later Sith violence to that history.
A new generation of Qel-Droma service
Duron entered the Hunt partly determined to restore honor to a family name damaged by Ulic's fall.
Duron Qel-Droma carries a damaged family name
Duron Qel-Droma joined the hunt in a galaxy that still remembered Ulic Qel-Droma's fall. His service gave the Qel-Droma name another public meaning: not only betrayal and Sith war, but dangerous Jedi work undertaken in the aftermath.
That does not erase Ulic's history. It shows how family reputations can be renegotiated by later relatives who inherit consequences they did not create.

Why was Onderon a logical Great Hunt target?
The planet had centuries of dark-side history, Freedon Nadd's legacy, and later Sith activity. That made it a plausible refuge for creatures associated with dark-side environments.
Was this the last terentatek hunt on Onderon?
It is one of the major documented Great Hunt operations. The campaign's wider chronology continued on several other worlds through 3993 BBY.
Anthropological assessment
The operation shows how family reputation can shape public service across generations.
Duron's actions were both a Jedi mission and an attempt to renegotiate inherited identity.
After the Great Sith War / source-critical history
The hunt returns to a world shaped by Sith influence
Onderon's political history made it an important setting for the early Great Hunt. It had experienced Freedon Nadd's legacy, the Beast Wars, the Naddist uprising and conflict involving Exar Kun's coalition. Duron Qel-Droma and his fellow hunters went there to eliminate dangerous creatures remaining after the war. This was not the same episode as the royal struggles that had changed who governed Iziz, even though the memory of Sith power linked them.
Duron's participation also gave the Qel-Droma family another public story following Ulic's betrayal of the Jedi. That motive cannot be assumed to explain every action or every Jedi hunter, but it gave Duron's mission personal meaning. Official extermination objectives and private ideas about repairing a damaged family reputation could coexist. The page should retain both the limited direct record of the encounter and the wider institutional history into which it fits.
Does the Onderon operation prove that every terentatek elsewhere was already dead?
No. It was one of several campaigns; subsequent documented missions continued on Tatooine, Kashyyyk and Korriban.

Onderon after the war: a hunt shaped by several layers of conflict
What the original chronology can establish
The Great Hunt sent Jedi teams to worlds where terentateks survived after the Great Sith War. Onderon was an early target around 3995 BBY. Duron Qel-Droma, Shaela Nuur and Guun Han Saresh are associated with the campaign, although the best-known story about their deaths occurs years later, after a secret mission to Korriban and Kashyyyk. This Onderon operation came after the city's earlier Beast Wars, the Freedon Nadd Uprising and Exar Kun's war. The hunters confronted dangerous creatures rather than a functioning government led by Queen Amanoa, who was already dead.
Institutional, cultural and material consequences
The planet's history explains why a hunt was more than pest control. The wilderness, Iziz and Dxun were already places of contested political and spiritual power, and later dark-side creatures complicated efforts to define a secure postwar environment. A republic or a Jedi outpost might declare that a human enemy had been defeated while people still had reason to fear the spaces around them. The hunt required local geographical knowledge, specialist experience and the cooperation of teams whose members were themselves shaped by memories of war. A family name like Qel-Droma could also carry conflicting reputations, connecting military service with private efforts to establish a different public legacy.
Uncertainty and continuity check
The event is dated through later Legends campaign chronologies. It is not evidence that all terentateks on Onderon were destroyed on a single documented day. Duron, Shaela and Saresh did not all die during this opening mission.
Test your historical judgment: Did the Onderon cleansing close the entire Great Hunt?
Correction and educational insight: No. It was one of the early operations. Tatooine's official conclusion and the later clandestine Korriban mission belong to 3993 BBY.
