The Corellian Trade Spine is fully established

A route whose first leg dated to the Republic's founding is extended from Corellia and Duro through the southern galaxy to the edge of known space.

By 5500 BBY, the Corellian Trade Spine had been fully established. Its oldest Corellia-Duro segment dated back to around 25,000 BBY, but centuries of exploration gradually pushed the route through the Colonies, Inner Rim, Expansion Region, Mid Rim, and Outer Rim.

A twenty-thousand-year construction history

The Spine began as an early Republic-era spur and expanded incrementally.

Its final scale was the result of many generations of navigators.

A network of intersections

The route connected with the Rimma Trade Route and many regional corridors.

Junction worlds gained commercial importance because travelers and cargo converged there.

Anthropological assessment

The Corellian Trade Spine makes clear that infrastructure can be an intergenerational project.

No single founder controlled its full development, yet later societies experienced it as one coherent route.

Published evidence

The Corellian Trade Spine emerged from an early Corellia–Duro segment established around 25,000 BBY. Over many millennia explorers connected other territories until the super-hyperroute was described as fully established by 5500 BBY. Later changes continued, making 'complete' an administrative and cartographic milestone rather than the end of further travel surveying.

Culture and power

A trade route is a collective accumulation of navigational knowledge. The older portion's survival over many millennia reflects repeated maintenance, funding and agreement across political jurisdictions. Ports, refueling depots and workers along the corridor contributed to the network even if the historical maps credit the whole achievement to a single trade spine.

Dating and continuity limits

The Spine's modern route includes later developments and should not be shown as an identical, finished series of junctions at every point in its history. In particular, the route's 5500 BBY completion should not be mistaken for the date its first Corellia–Duro leg opened.

Historical judgment: Was the entire Spine first discovered in 5500 BBY?

Correction and explanation: No. Its original Corellia–Duro segment dated to about 25,000 BBY; 5500 marks later consolidation.
