The Crusade of the Wilds begins

The Tenth Pius Dea Crusade drives Republic military expansion into the northern Outer Rim against alien communities beyond the older core of Republic settlement.

In 11,791 BBY, the Pius Dea Republic began the Tenth Crusade, also called the Crusade of the Wilds. The campaign pushed military operations into the northern Outer Rim against alien communities living beyond the older centers of Republic power.

The Tenth Crusade

The campaign continued Pius Dea expansion even while the larger Republic remained strained by internal conflict.

Crusading policy made the frontier a permanent zone of warfare rather than a stable boundary.

Calling a region “the Wilds”

Administrative language can make conquest appear necessary. A place described as wild is implicitly contrasted with an ordered political center.

Pius Dea ideology added religious meaning to that contrast, presenting expansion as the imposition of divine order.

The Outer Rim as a political category

The Outer Rim contained established species, societies, and trade networks. Its distance from Coruscant did not make it socially empty.

The campaign reveals how Core political categories could erase local complexity.

Anthropological assessment

The phrase “Wilds” is politically significant because states often describe peripheral regions as disorderly or uncivilized when they seek to justify expansion into them.

Such labels turn geography into moral judgment. Populations outside the center become easier to frame as objects of pacification rather than communities with their own political systems.
