Around 11,820 BBY, the old Coruscant-Alsakan rivalry erupted for a sixth time, but the political context was radically different. Alsakan and much of the Axis seceded from the Pius Dea-controlled Republic. Worlds threatened by the crusades appealed to Alsakan for protection, while Duros, Herglics, and Hutts joined the anti-Pius Dea coalition.
Alsakan secedes
Alsakan's break removed a major Core power from direct Pius Dea authority.
Alien worlds along the Perlemian and elsewhere sought Alsakani protection from Republic campaigns.
Alsakan maintained secret communication lines with Duros, Herglics, and Hutt allies.
The Axis becomes a secessionist bloc
Alsakan's political sphere extended beyond one planet. Its aligned worlds and colonies gave the secession territorial depth and military resources.
This transformed resistance from isolated rebellion into a competing political network.
Duros, Herglics, and Hutts align with Alsakan
The alliance crossed major cultural and political differences. Herglics and Duros had long histories inside Republic networks, while the Hutts had been principal targets of earlier crusades.
Shared opposition to Pius Dea created a coalition larger than Alsakan's traditional constituency.
The Pius Dea Republic survives the war
The Sixth Conflict eventually ended in a Republic victory. Pius Dea rule continued for centuries afterward.
Military defeat did not end the anti-Pius Dea network, however. Alsakan and alien powers later became central to the coalition that overthrew the regime.

Anthropological assessment
The Sixth Alsakan Conflict shows how an old rivalry can acquire new ideological content. Earlier wars centered on competing Core political networks; this one also became a struggle over religious rule, species hierarchy, and protection from state violence.
It demonstrates alliance formation under threat. Groups with very different histories, including Hutts and old Republic species, could cooperate because Pius Dea policy created a shared danger.
