An invasion reaches its last battle
By 29 ABY the Galactic Alliance, Jedi and several allies had recovered enough strength to confront the Yuuzhan Vong at Coruscant. The invaders had renamed and reshaped the planet as Yuuzhan'tar, turning its original capital infrastructure into part of an imposed world.
The living planet arrives
Zonama Sekot, a living world important to the invaders' distant history, entered the conflict and challenged their religious and political assumptions. Its presence helped reveal possibilities for the species beyond continual conquest.
The Supreme Overlord falls
Luke Skywalker confronted Supreme Overlord Shimrra while Jacen Solo faced Onimi, the hidden manipulator of the Yuuzhan Vong hierarchy. Their defeat brought the regime's leadership to an end. Yuuzhan Vong military commanders were forced to consider whether their society could survive without its war of conquest.
Surrender and reconstruction
Warmaster Nas Choka surrendered, and the final stages of the conflict ended. Coruscant came back under Galactic Alliance control, although its ecological and social damage could not be repaired instantly. Many Yuuzhan Vong survivors departed to Zonama Sekot.
Anthropological assessment
The end of the war concerns more than battlefield victory. It raises the difficult problem of protecting populations who suffered an invasion while making space for former enemies to survive without renewed domination or collective punishment.
