A prisoner once believed dead
After the Myrkr mission, Jacen Solo was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong. His family and companions feared that he had died. Instead, he was forced into circumstances that challenged his understanding of the Force and his place within the Jedi tradition.
A teacher who refuses simple explanations
Vergere, a former Jedi with long experience of the invaders, subjected Jacen to dangerous and sometimes cruel instruction. Her ideas questioned the distinction between perceiving the Force and rationalizing one's actions through easy categories of good and evil.
The suffering of the occupied world
Jacen encountered the living environment imposed on captured Coruscant. Understanding Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology did not require accepting the invaders' violence, but the experience undermined his earlier assumptions that their apparent absence from the Force made them beyond moral consideration.
A return with changed convictions
Jacen survived and returned to the wider conflict carrying new insights and unresolved questions. Those ideas influenced his later decisions in ways that proved deeply controversial, but the events in Traitor should be interpreted within the 28 ABY war rather than merely as foreshadowing his later identity as Darth Caedus.
Anthropological assessment
Captivity changes both relationships and ways of knowing. The story asks how extreme coercion can reshape religious interpretation while leaving moral agency contested. Vergere's methods are part of that problem, not a simple endorsement of cruelty.

Does Traitor mean Jacen Solo becomes Darth Caedus immediately in 28 ABY?
No. His Sith transformation occurs in a separate, much later Legends conflict.
