B1 Battle Droid

B1 Battle Droid behaves unlike ordinary units because its survival is controlled by Droid Battalion stacks. It has one Health, no Protection and cannot be defeated while stacks remain. Building B1 as though ordinary Health or Protection would keep it alive misunderstands the entire mechanic. Its purpose is to assist Separatist allies, apply Target Lock and sustain compatible units.

01 / TACTICAL PURPOSE

Why B1 Battle Droid matters

B1 Battle Droid behaves unlike ordinary units because its survival is controlled by Droid Battalion stacks. It has one Health, no Protection and cannot be defeated while stacks remain. Building B1 as though ordinary Health or Protection would keep it alive misunderstands the entire mechanic. Its purpose is to assist Separatist allies, apply Target Lock and sustain compatible units.

Galaxy of Heroes rewards exact ability interactions rather than the fictional importance of a character. Start with the real faction tags, current ability level and game mode. Grand Arena and Territory Wars can activate different upgrades, while a raid or Era may restrict eligible units altogether. A high displayed power score cannot guarantee a battle outcome if a crucial kit requirement has not been met.

What this guide covers

The sections below distinguish permanent mechanics, a practical turn-by-turn decision process, a five-unit teaching core and a mod setup derived from player data. They do not claim a universal 2026 counter or automatically read your roster.

02 / CHARACTER KIT

Understand Droid Battalion stacks and Separatist assists

Droid Battalion starts with stacks that absorb damage through stack losses. B1 regenerates some stacks at the start of its turns but loses several when hit; once all are gone, the unit is destroyed. Roger Roger allows an assist when another Separatist ally uses an ability and grants Turn Meter after another Droid ally's Special. Blast Them! targets an enemy with Target Lock and heals a Separatist ally based on current stacks. B1 Barrage helps Droid allies recover when attacking a target-locked enemy.

Droid Battalion's Zeta increases starting stacks. Read the stack amount at your current Unique level; it changes effective survival and the potency of associated effects. Building offensive stats can help the frequent assists, but Crit Chance and Crit Damage investments are wasted because B1 cannot score critical hits.

KIT FIRST

Check the exact trigger

A full-level ability may describe an effect you have not unlocked. Confirm which upgrade adds the relevant text before copying a strategy.

MODE SECOND

Check eligibility

Read the battle mode and any faction-only clauses. A squad that works in one format can lose its advantage in another.

INVEST THIRD

Target a useful outcome

Only allocate gear or rare materials once you can name the specific event, battle or activity that upgrade should improve.

03 / IN-BATTLE DECISIONS

A five-step tactical walkthrough

  1. 1. Confirm that B1 is paired with Separatist and Droid allies who trigger its assists and Turn Meter effects.
  2. 2. Identify which enemy should receive Target Lock first so allied attacks can exploit the status.
  3. 3. Keep track of whether B1 is gaining or losing stacks between turns instead of focusing on its nominal Health.
  4. 4. Use Blast Them! when the selected Separatist ally needs healing or the target lock can support follow-up actions.
  5. 5. When B1 collapses early, inspect upgrade level, enemy attack patterns and team protection mechanics. Raising Max Health will not fix the stack problem.

These are decisions rather than a fixed ability rotation. An enemy's pre-battle condition, turn meter, control immunity, forced Taunt or upgraded Unique can change the correct next move. When a fight fails, record its first decisive event instead of attempting the same sequence without understanding why it broke down.

04 / SQUAD INTELLIGENCE

Example five-character squad

LEADERGeneral Grievous
ALLY 1B1 Battle Droid
ALLY 2B2 Super Battle Droid
ALLY 3IG-100 MagnaGuard
ALLY 4Droideka

General Grievous supplies the leader engine and has effects involving other Droids. B1 brings repeat attacks, Target Lock and support. B2 contributes team control, MagnaGuard offers protection and Droideka adds damage. This is a stable instructional example of Separatist Droid mechanics, not proof of a currently optimal Grand Arena defense.

Use the squad-building guide to evaluate leader effects, teammate roles and the desired win condition. The Counter Desk provides separately labeled 5v5 and 3v3 reference links if your objective is Grand Arena. The full five-unit composition is an illustrative kit exercise, not a promise of current competitive performance.

05 / MOD REVIEW

Starting mod setup: Offense + Potency

SetOffense + Potency
ArrowSpeed
TriangleOffense
CircleProtection (restricted)
CrossOffense

Current top-Kyber player data most often shows Offense and Potency sets with a Speed arrow and Offense triangle/cross. The circle slot only allows Health or Protection primaries, which do not function as a normal durability pool for this one-Health, zero-Protection unit; prioritize useful set and secondary properties there instead. Avoid Critical Damage because B1 cannot crit.

Mods should solve an actual battle problem: survive an opening attack, act early enough to apply the required effect, resist a disruptive debuff, or deliver meaningful damage. Compare Speed secondaries and other stats within the complete team. These suggestions describe visible player-data patterns, not a paid recommendation, personal roster analysis or a proven optimal build for every difficulty.

06 / RESOURCE DISCIPLINE

Four mistakes worth avoiding

Account-development shortcut

Before any Zeta, relic or large farming commitment, check the active ability tier and event prerequisite. Use the personal farming planner to record the exact missing unit, ship or upgrade. Do not assume a pack or purchase is required to progress.

07 / FAST REFERENCE

Questions and clarification

Why does B1 survive with only one Health?

The Droid Battalion mechanic is its survival resource. It remains on the field as long as stacks remain, losing stacks when damaged and regaining some at the start of its own turns.

Which ability level should I use?

Check the highest tier available on your account and compare the wording with the full ability ladder on SWGOH.GG. Some mechanics change at the final Omega or Zeta upgrade.

Where can I get this character's shards?

Open the unit's current acquisition interface in your game. Nodes, shipment offers and event availability can change. Avoid spending premium resources based on a dated guide screenshot alone.
