Mode and story notes: The Ilum story arc unlocks at 47, but this Story/Solo Flashpoint requires level 48+. Veteran Group Finder has its own level/mode eligibility. Master Group Finder is level 80. The Imperial Ilum storyline requires An Empire Betrayed, not only a repeatable flashpoint run.

  1. 01

At level 47, accept First Strike

On Imperial Fleet, find T9-M6 by the CENTRAL/INNER RING with a purple mission marker and accept FIRST STRIKE, the Imperial Ilum story arc.

  2. 02

Fly your personal ship to Ilum

Use the Galaxy Map to travel to ILUM, then the orbital station shuttle down to the IMPERIAL BASE CAMP.

  3. 03

Go INSIDE the base, not down its elevator yet

At the base camp, follow the FIRST STRIKE mission marker through the GREEN STORY DOOR and speak to MOFF REGUS.

  4. 04

Complete the five Ilum story stages

Follow FIRST STRIKE → THE CHALLENGE OF WAR → SHORING UP DEFENSES → A NEW ORDER → AN EMPIRE BETRAYED. The linked Flashpoint becomes your story objective as this arc progresses.

  5. 05

NOW take the big elevator DOWN

At Imperial Base Camp, use the large ELEVATOR to LOWER LEVELS. The Battle of Ilum instance door is downstairs. You do not need a separate questgiver if the linked [STORY] mission is already active.

  6. 06

    Repeatable alternative

If you only want the repeatable instance, use Activity Finder → SOLO → THE BATTLE OF ILUM → TRAVEL at level 48+, or talk to S-K6 on the lower base level and choose START STORY MODE.

02 · OBJECTIVE-BY-OBJECTIVE WALKTHROUGH

Where to go and what to click next

  1. 01

Board the shuttle to the battlefield

Inside the instance, use the highlighted SHUTTLE TO THE BATTLEFIELD. Merely entering the base lower level is not the same as starting the combat route.

  2. 02

Take a speeder into the trenches

Follow the first landing area's quest marker to the SPEEDER, click it and choose the TRENCHES destination. The mission explicitly requires this transport.

  3. 03

    Advance to the Alien Commanders

Fight through Malgus-aligned units. The mandatory objective is DEFEAT THE ALIEN COMMANDERS: Drinda Zel and Velasu Graege. Gark the Indomitable may appear earlier but is not necessary if safely bypassed.

  4. 04

    Disable the security field

After the commanders, interact with the objective to DISABLE THE SECURITY FIELD. Do not try to force your way through a still-lit shield.

  5. 05

    Get to Fort Barrow

Continue through the crystal terrain toward FORT BARROW. Crystal Cutter and Harvester droids or Krel Thak may be encountered; route skips require the whole group to cooperate.

  6. 06

    Destroy Generator A

At Fort Barrow use the mission marker to find and DESTROY FORCEFIELD GENERATOR A. Do not assume a defeated guard automatically disables the field.

  7. 07

    Destroy Generators B and C

Continue around the fort and destroy FORCEFIELD GENERATOR B, then FORCEFIELD GENERATOR C. All three are required.

  8. 08

    Override the security console

Locate the highlighted SECURITY CONSOLE and RIGHT-CLICK it after all three forcefield generators are down. A boss fight alone does not open the remaining approach.

  9. 09

    Locate the stealth ship prototype

After the console updates your mission, follow LOCATE THE STEALTH SHIP PROTOTYPE. If you encounter Commander Folex, defeat him and CLICK THE PANEL BEHIND HIM when required.

  10. 10

    Defeat Darth Serevin

In the final area, defeat healer QUENETH LI first, then DARTH SEREVIN. On difficult modes interrupt FORCE EXPLOSION; ordinary Dark Blast is not the priority.

  11. 11

    Speak to Talsa-ko

After Serevin falls the objective reads TALK TO TALSA-KO. Complete that conversation and the linked Ilum story handoff rather than immediately abandoning the instance.

Optional activities: EVENING THE ODDS: destroy six turbolaser batteries on the first map. CRYSTAL FORTRESS: defeat 30 + 40 forces, destroy ten blue crystal-mining supplies in the caves, unlock Guid Patriarch. Both are optional to the main story.

03 · COMBAT TROUBLESHOOTING

Boss mechanics without guessing

These descriptions cover the relevant objective, visual warning, controls and known failure points. Optional bosses are labeled and do not block the mandatory story.

ENCOUNTER 01 / 07

Gark the Indomitable (avoidable)

Where: Initial trench sector.

  1. 01

    Decide whether to fight

A right-side route can avoid Gark in some runs; first-time players can defeat him to avoid a messy skip.

  2. 02

    Handle reinforcements

Gark summons small enemies; clear enough to stay alive.

  3. 03

    Continue toward the commanders

Gark is not the mission's alien-commanders objective.

Stuck here? If the objective still says Alien Commanders, defeating Gark is not enough; continue to Drinda Zel and Velasu Graege.

ENCOUNTER 02 / 07

Alien Commanders: Drinda Zel and Velasu Graege

Where: Ahead of the red security barrier in the trenches.

  1. 01

    Attack the commanders together

Defeat both named aliens; the shield objective comes after this encounter.

  2. 02

    Watch turret fire

Turrets activate during the fight. In Story Mode they may be manageable, but in Master Mode clear them promptly.

  3. 03

    Use the shield control

After both named enemies fall, move to the marked SECURITY FIELD control.

Stuck here? Do not run past the red shield after only one commander dies; verify both names and the disable-security-field objective.

ENCOUNTER 03 / 07

Crystal Cutter and Harvester Droids (avoidable)

Where: Crystal route on the way to Fort Barrow.

  1. 01

    Recognize the mining attack

The droids use MINING BEAMS; activate defensives and move out of dangerous lines.

  2. 02

    Skip only as a group

A left-side bypass can work, but stealth characters close to these droids may be detected.

  3. 03

    Continue forward

The required Fort Barrow objectives are the three generators and security console, not always every roaming crystal droid.

Stuck here? If enemies engage after a skip, go back and help your group rather than creating a trail of mobs.

ENCOUNTER 04 / 07

Krel Thak (avoidable)

Where: Fort approach after the crystal area.

  1. 01

    Clear adds

Krel Thak calls numerous extra enemies; remove them when overwhelmed.

  2. 02

Move back when the shield appears

A blue screen/shield and RED WARNING TEXT precede a close-range knockback.

  3. 03

    Optional running skip

A coordinated group can run past and keep going until he resets; this is risky for first-time players.

Stuck here? If Krel Thak repeatedly knocks you back, stop crowding the blue shield and kill adds until the warning expires.

ENCOUNTER 05 / 07

Commander Folex

Where: Fort Barrow section before the prototype approach.

  1. 01

    Defeat Folex and defenders

Clear the encounter near the required console.

  2. 02

Find the panel directly behind him

After Folex is dead, RIGHT-CLICK THE PANEL BEHIND HIS POSITION.

  3. 03

    Read the new mission line

Only proceed when the fort security and ship route update.

Stuck here? A common stall occurs after defeating Folex: the panel behind his position still needs to be clicked.

ENCOUNTER 06 / 07

Guid Patriarch (optional)

Where: Western area outside the crystal caves; unlocked by Crystal Fortress bonus.

  1. 01

    Complete the bonus chain

Defeat Malgus's forces 30 then 40; destroy 10 crystal mining supplies.

  2. 02

    Look for blue mining boxes

Find the ten GLOWING BLUE SUPPLY OBJECTS throughout the caves, including a side tunnel.

  3. 03

    Clear Vorntigers first

Defeat wandering Vorntigers around the bonus arena before pulling Guid Patriarch.

Stuck here? The Guid Patriarch is optional. Ignore it if you only want to complete the linked story.

ENCOUNTER 07 / 07

Darth Serevin and Queneth Li

Where: Final stealth prototype objective room.

  1. 01

    Kill Queneth Li first

The VOSS SUPPORTER in WHITE ROBES, Queneth Li, is a healer. Eliminate this target before focusing entirely on Serevin.

  2. 02

    Avoid control effects

Serevin can stun characters. Use defensives and resume movement when released.

  3. 03

    Interrupt Force Explosion

In MASTER MODE interrupt FORCE EXPLOSION; it is the dangerous purple cast, not DARK BLAST.

  4. 04

Talk to Talsa-ko after the kill

The post-fight dialogue is a mission requirement and hands off to the second Ilum finale.

Stuck here? Serevin defeated but no completion? Check for TALK TO TALSA-KO; don't leave before the required conversation.

04 · FIND A QUICK FIX

Why the quest is not progressing

I have First Strike but cannot find the Battle of Ilum door.

Complete the preceding Ilum mission chain through AN EMPIRE BETRAYED. At Imperial Base Camp use the BIG ELEVATOR to LOWER LEVELS; the instance door is there.

Reference and original discussion ↗

My mission is at the trenches but I cannot see the path.

Use the SHUTTLE TO BATTLEFIELD, then the INTERACTIVE SPEEDER TO THE TRENCHES. It is not a normal on-foot route.

Reference and original discussion ↗

Do I need to kill Guid Patriarch?

No. The Guid Patriarch is tied to the optional Crystal Fortress chain. You can complete the mandatory Story Flashpoint without it.

Reference and original discussion ↗

Serevin is dead. How do I get The False Emperor?

TALK TO TALSA-KO in the Flashpoint, follow the Ilum story return to MOFF REGUS, then accept the next [STORY] THE FALSE EMPEROR objective.
