Is Darth Revan Canon?

Short answer

Revan is canon as a name and an ancient Sith reference, but the detailed biography from Knights of the Old Republic is still Legends. Canon recognition of 'Revan' does not automatically make the KOTOR storyline, relationships, choices, or Old Republic chronology canon.

What part of Revan is canon?

Modern canon material has used Revan's name in connection with ancient Sith history. That establishes that a figure called Revan belongs somewhere in the canon past. It does not, by itself, supply the full identity, appearance, gender, Jedi history, Mandalorian Wars role, fall to the dark side, redemption path, companions, or later events familiar from Legends.

What remains Legends?

The richly detailed Revan most fans know comes from the KOTOR-era Legends continuity. That includes the game narrative and the larger network of Old Republic stories that expanded the character. IDS treats those details as Legends unless a canon source separately establishes them. This avoids a common mistake: treating the return of a name as automatic confirmation of every older story attached to that name.

Why does the distinction matter?

Canon and Legends are different continuities, not quality rankings. Legends material can still be historically important to Star Wars fandom, enormously influential, and worth studying in depth.
