A relationship formed across institutions
Anakin and Padmé had reunited during the assassination crisis and spent time together on Naboo before Anakin's search for Shmi took them to Tatooine and Geonosis. Their relationship strengthened despite different responsibilities in the Jedi Order and Senate.
A ceremony kept private
Following the Battle of Geonosis, the pair married at Varykino on Naboo. R2-D2 and C-3PO witnessed the event. The secrecy reflected Jedi expectations regarding attachment and the political risk of a prominent senator's concealed marriage.
Two public roles and one private family
Both continued to serve their respective institutions during the Clone Wars. Their relationship therefore required concealing information from people with whom they worked closely, adding strain to their personal and professional lives.
Anthropological assessment
The marriage illustrates how institutional commitments can govern intimate relationships, and how secrecy becomes an organizing practice when personal obligations conflict with formal rules.

Anakin and Padmé marry secretly: primary history and social context
What the source establishes
Following the Geonosis crisis and the start of the Clone Wars, Anakin and Padmé married in a private ceremony at Varykino on Naboo, witnessed by C-3PO and R2-D2. Their decision followed their reunion and growing relationship during the assassination investigation. Secrecy mattered because Jedi expectations about attachment conflicted with Anakin's role in the Order, while Padmé held a significant public office.
People, labor and political institutions
Marriage is both a personal commitment and an institution defined differently by the communities involved. Their secrecy reveals the tension between Jedi rules, senatorial obligations and family life. It should not be turned into a claim that every Jedi had identical views on love or that Naboo's marriage customs were simply Jedi rules under another name.
Original media and evidence limitations
The 22 BBY events are depicted in Attack of the Clones and related official stories, apart from the earlier Senate and Separatist political developments depicted across books and series. The illustration is symbolic, and its diagram labels do not supply dialogue or casualty statistics absent from the underlying work.
