- Trail of Darth Nul
In early 3626 BBY, Darth Malgus reappeared at the ruins of the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. Former Jedi Aryn Leneer sensed him and followed far enough to confirm his presence before seeking help. Republic-aligned investigators could enter with Aryn and Arn Peralun, while Imperial-aligned investigators followed a different path with Darth Rivix and Darth Krovos. In either case, Malgus remained ahead of his pursuers.
The Jedi Enclave is an archaeological site and an active battlefield
The Dantooine Enclave had trained Jedi during the Mandalorian Wars and Jedi Civil War, survived destruction and abandonment, and remained full of artifacts and architectural layers.
By 3626 BBY, entering the ruins meant moving through thousands of years of Jedi institutional history rather than simply exploring an empty dungeon.
Aryn Leneer recognizes Malgus before the institutions do
Aryn's history with Malgus stretched back to the Sacking of Coruscant. Her ability to sense him turned personal memory into intelligence.
Her decision not to confront him alone is important. Survival allowed her to transmit knowledge; heroic self-sacrifice would have left everyone else ignorant of his return to Dantooine.
Malgus is searching for history someone tried to erase
The relic points toward Darth Nul, an ancient Force-user whose record had been systematically suppressed. Malgus's interest therefore becomes an archival problem: he is reconstructing a person through fragments left after deliberate erasure.
The next phase of the story asks why institutions erase people and what happens when later actors recover the suppressed archive.
Malgus is no longer simply an Imperial weapon
After Meridian, Malgus had broken the controls imposed by Imperial leadership. Dantooine confirms that he is pursuing a project separate from normal Sith war aims.
His independence makes him dangerous to both sides because neither can predict his behavior through the familiar logic of Republic-Sith competition.

Secrets of the Enclave: evidence and material culture
What happened
Darth Malgus searches the ruined Jedi Enclave on Dantooine for ancient knowledge. Republic and Imperial pursuers must interpret an archaeological site whose former religious purpose is relevant to active military intelligence. The official update confirms the search and the ruined location.
Anthropological interpretation
Ruins do not explain themselves. A recovered object can prove use or survival, but it cannot establish every past belief or all of Malgus's future intentions. Later revelations should be separated from what the expedition itself documents. This avoids treating fictional archaeology as unquestionable evidence.
Chronology, uncertainty and player choices
The BBY date is a Legends timeline placement and is not automatically established by a real-world game update release. Where the storyline branches, one optional player outcome is not asserted as universal. Recurring game events receive tentative placements.

Why did Malgus choose a Jedi site to investigate a Sith?
Darth Nul's history crossed institutional boundaries, and relevant material had survived inside Jedi-controlled archives. Erasure was incomplete because documents and objects moved between organizations.
Why is this one of IDS's strongest archaeology events?
The plot depends on ruins, curated archives, missing records, recovered relics, and deliberate historical suppression. The past is not background; control of the past is the conflict.
What makes the date unusually secure?
SWTOR's story team specifically clarified that Secrets of the Enclave takes place in early 3626 BBY, only weeks after the preceding 6.2 storyline.
Anthropological assessment
Secrets of the Enclave is fundamentally about archival power. Institutions do not merely preserve history; they decide what deserves to be recorded, hidden, destroyed, or forgotten.
Malgus becomes dangerous because he refuses the boundaries of official memory. By treating ruins and suppressed records as evidence, he reconstructs possibilities that both Jedi and Sith institutions had tried to make unavailable.

Why this event matters: Malgus at the ruined Enclave
A ruined Jedi institution becomes a site of contested knowledge and recovery, not merely a battlefield.
Anthropological interpretation: The event can be examined through institutions, social loyalties and the control of resources or information. That analytical perspective should not be confused with additional source-documented scenes.
Evidence check: documented event or interpretation?
The event and its broad place in the chronology are source-based. The social implications above are interpretation; exact private motives, undocumented dialogue and unreported casualties are not asserted.
