A homecoming reveals unrest

In 18 ABY Han Solo returned with Leia and their family to his home system for a major trade conference. Political tensions in Corellia were already severe, driven by opposition to New Republic government and the activities of organizations such as the Human League. The summit was intended to address economic and political grievances but instead became the focus of a larger conspiracy.

The Human League exploits ethnic division

Thrackan Sal-Solo, Han's cousin, sought power through the Human League and a political program privileging humans over other species. Corellian society included Drall, Selonians and humans with distinct histories and relationships to the system's institutions. Violence could be encouraged by making cultural distinctions into exclusive claims to political authority.

Ancient machines become leverage

The conspirators relied on ancient Centerpoint Station and related planetary repulsor systems. The installation possessed the ability to manipulate and threaten astronomical objects. Its destructive potential allowed political demands to be backed by a weapon whose effects could spread far beyond Corellia itself.

The Solo family and allies respond

Han, Leia, their children and allied residents became entangled in the crisis as separatist factions and criminal organizers attempted to control the system. The conflicts led to direct action against the operation of Centerpoint and to the defeat of Thrackan's immediate plans.

A leadership change follows

Thrackan was arrested and the threat to the Bovo Yagen system prevented. Duchess Marcha was appointed the sector's Governor-General. Leia later withdrew as New Republic Chief of State, and Ponc Gavrisom was elected to complete her term, an important change in public leadership during the aftermath.

Anthropological assessment

The crisis combines ethno-nationalist mobilization with control over infrastructure. Political actors attempted to use both identity categories and inherited technology to force outcomes that could not be achieved through open negotiation. The story shows why the distribution of authority among different planetary populations matters as much as central government's formal structure.
