A former senator develops her abilities

After Endor, Leia Organa began studying Jedi practice with Luke Skywalker. She already understood how the Force had connected her family, but formal training placed her in a different relationship to those abilities. Luke taught his sister meditation, lightsaber work and the demanding discipline of a Force-sensitive learner.

A premonition changes her plans

Leia experienced a vision that suggested pursuing the Jedi path would lead to the death of her son. She chose to stop formal training, placing her lightsaber in Luke's care. The published account establishes her decision but does not provide a precise calendar day, so the entry uses an approximate date in the early New Republic period.

A political vocation remains

Leia continued helping the New Republic establish itself and eventually led the Resistance against the First Order. She remained Force-sensitive and capable of using her abilities even though she did not return to a conventional apprenticeship. Later she helped train Rey, passing on parts of the knowledge she had acquired.

Anthropological analysis

An institutional vocation can be interrupted without an individual's knowledge or identity disappearing. Leia's choice shows how formal religious training, parenthood and public service may create competing obligations that no single institution can resolve for a person.

Did Leia permanently lose every Force ability when she stopped Jedi training?

No. She remained Force-sensitive and later taught Rey.

A remembered vision is not a complete chronology

The film The Rise of Skywalker reveals that Luke trained Leia in Jedi skills after the fall of the Empire and that she stopped that training after a vision involving the future of her son. The movie's flashback is not a continuously dated historical record. Its images and Luke's explanation support the personal decision; they do not establish an exact day for every training session. The placement of the article at approximately 5 ABY should therefore remain explicitly approximate rather than claiming that the scene identifies an unambiguous calendar date.

The published expanded novelization gives Leia a more sustained memory of training with Luke and of later teaching Rey. Lucasfilm's excerpt describes physical practice, Force exercises and the relationship between Leia's political responsibilities and her ability to instruct another student. That material provides useful evidence that ending formal study was not the same thing as abandoning all knowledge or connection to the Force. It also warns against imagining a completed Jedi Order around Luke and Leia at this point merely because they practiced together.

For anthropology, an apprenticeship is one form of transmitting specialized knowledge, not the only one. Leia's story separates formal membership in a religious institution from a person's continuing skills and the obligations of family and public office. This is IDS interpretation, not a reported Jedi doctrine. The birth of Ben Solo supplies relevant family context, while the new political order situates her public work. Readers should not infer that a fictional premonition proves any particular model of destiny.
