ZERO COMPANY / ENEMY DOSSIER / SIGNAL INTERCEPT
The droid that hunts the weak point.
Typhon is an unusual super tactical droid: a Separatist strategist who favors precision attacks against exposed targets rather than the predictable movement of great droid armies.
Lucasfilm's official Databank distinguishes Typhon from other super tactical droids through two facts. Its military method is asymmetrical warfare, and Republic Intelligence believes it has developed a fixation on the Shadow Plague and Kundri Fathom. The source does not explain how that fixation arose or what a droid internally experiences.
The shipped game makes Typhon more than a distant strategist. It becomes a substantial boss encounter during the Cindermoor phase of the final operation. The enemy combines a ray shield, supporting droids and retaliatory orders, creating a fight that rewards careful removal of its support network rather than indiscriminate damage.
This file studies both halves of the character: the imagined social role of an independent machine commander and the specific problem it creates for players. Evidence cards distinguish documented behavior from hypotheses, the tactical bench compares ways to approach the boss, and a command dilemma considers what intelligence should mean when an enemy has discovered a vulnerable population.
01 / OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY
A commander with an unusual interest.
Most super tactical droids in Star Wars are designed to coordinate armies and fleets for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They operate within the Separatist command infrastructure and exercise strategic control over ordinary battle droids. Typhon belongs to this broader military tradition but is explicitly distinguished from it by Lucasfilm.
The Databank describes Typhon as a specialist in asymmetrical warfare and precision strikes against vulnerable targets. The words establish a strategic preference, not a complete catalogue of missions. In practice, such attacks seek opportunities where the enemy is less able to concentrate defense, and may target transport links, isolated forces or key infrastructure. The specific targets are examples of the doctrine, not official claims about unshown operations.
Republic Intelligence has noticed something unusual about the droid: it appears increasingly interested in the Shadow Plague and the woman who embodies it, Kundri Fathom. The official description deliberately uses uncertain language. An apparent fixation does not establish love, a family relationship, a change of consciousness or infection of Typhon's circuitry.
That limited report has a specific institutional viewpoint. The Republic's analysts are observing an enemy commander and comparing it against expectations for similar machines. The oddity may be significant because an autonomous strategist is devoting attention to a biological contagion and a charismatic leader instead of conventional military objectives. What it means remains open to interpretation.
Typhon's portrait displays a dark angular head and multiple orange optical sensors. It is visibly mechanical. That artwork may invite comparison with other super tactical droids, but a distinctive casing does not establish its production date, upgrade model or unique factory origin.
Lucasfilm's July 2026 cast announcement identifies Hunter Smith as the voice performer. The inclusion of an actor gives a machine commander an articulate individual identity in the story, while still leaving the distinction between programmed goals, learned behavior and personal intention unresolved.
02 / THE COIL AND THE CONFEDERACY
Machines, cults and command.
Typhon appears within a conflict involving conventional Separatist forces and the Infinite Coil, a plague-bearing organization under Kundri Fathom's leadership. The Coil is aligned with the Separatist side of the Clone Wars, but its threat is not identical to the ordinary campaign of battle droid armies against Republic units.
The official faction entry establishes that the Coil recruits from vulnerable populations, its members carry the Shadow Plague, and its activities extend to Republic-controlled worlds. A mechanical commander linked to these operations creates a point of contact between a rationalized military hierarchy and a group held together by infection, charisma and coercive pressure.
A command system built around droids can move decisions through standardized orders. A cult built around allegiance to a central figure may demand devotion to a person rather than to a formal institutional chain. Typhon's presence makes these two styles of organization coexist. It does not prove the droid shares the subjective convictions of infected members.
An analyst may ask why a precision-war specialist would be interested in a plague. The plague alters the conflict's geography by increasing fear, destabilizing local institutions and changing the risk of occupation. Such effects may be strategically relevant without an analyst having evidence that the droid engineered or controls the infection.
The fact that Republic Intelligence marks Typhon's behavior as peculiar is important. A society that treats droids purely as predictable instruments can be surprised when a named machine behaves in an unexpected way. The report records an anomaly; it does not explain the machine's internal architecture.
Typhon's relationships with Kundri Fathom and Visser should therefore be drawn carefully. The three are principal named antagonists in the same conflict. Fathom leads the Coil; Visser often commands its fighters; Typhon supplies a different kind of tactical threat. A precise character map preserves these distinctions instead of turning them into a generic three-person conspiracy.
03 / STRATEGY VERSUS HARDWARE
Why a precision strike is different.
Separatist droid armies are often shown as massed formations. Their strengths include numbers, industrial production and repeated application of force. An asymmetrical commander seeks a different advantage: concentrating force where the opponent cannot answer with comparable resources. Typhon's profile frames it as an alternative to conventional fleet or ground command.
Precision warfare does not automatically mean a smaller moral footprint. Hitting a vulnerable target can be militarily efficient while exposing people who lack defenses. The ethical significance depends on who is selected, the intended effect and what the commander knows about civilians at the site. The official biography offers no license to invent Typhon's full targeting history.
The game's final operation supplies a more concrete view of the problem. On Cindermoor's command mast, Typhon coordinates a defended position with auxiliary droids. Encounter guides describe hostile snipers, reinforcements and a ray-shielded boss who can trigger retaliation when attacked. These are reported gameplay mechanics, distinct from the broader Databank strategy.
Players may approach the boss as a simple health bar, but the fight is deliberately structured around a network. The danger comes from the units surrounding Typhon, the geography of the bridge, and the squad's inability to ignore counterfire indefinitely. A strong answer needs to control that system rather than relying on maximum damage to a single target.
Ion damage and anti-droid utilities are repeatedly discussed in player reports as useful countermeasures. Players also report repositioning Typhon using displacement abilities, but specific builds, difficulty settings and patches can affect how safely these interactions work. They should be presented as approaches to test rather than guaranteed outcomes.
Typhon's battlefield role is part of its characterization without being identical to its biography. Commands that summon or direct droids show authority in the encounter. They do not establish what political ideals the machine endorses or whether the droid understands the plague as a moral cause.
04 / PLAYER GUIDE / MAJOR SPOILERS
Boss: Typhon on the command mast.
Mission: The Infinite Coil, at Cindermoor's orbital shipbreaking facility on Bardan. This is the final operation's major droid encounter before Kundri Fathom. Follow your current mission objectives; encounters may vary by difficulty and patch.
Enter prepared
The final operation is a sequence of fights without ordinary mid-mission team changes. Bring healing, mobility, reliable damage and anti-droid tools before launching.
Secure the terminal
Complete the initial infiltration and terminal defense. Avoid exhausting all limited-use utilities before the command mast.
Remove the escort
When Typhon's encounter begins, use the early turns to remove dangerous sniper and support droids. Their attacks make every attempt on the boss more costly.
Break the ray shield
Coordinate ion effects, concentrated damage and anti-droid utilities to strip protection. Avoid wasting valuable single-target attacks while the boss is heavily shielded.
Manage retaliation
Attacking Typhon can cause allied droids to answer. Check line of sight and preserve a route to cover before committing all actions.
Clear the remaining droids
Do not assume the fight ends the moment Typhon is defeated. Reported objective completion requires defeating the remaining hostiles.

INTERACTIVE BATTLEFIELD ANALYSIS / NO INVENTED STATS
Choose a countermeasure. Keep the team alive.
Compare three approaches to the Typhon encounter. No fixed damage numbers are assumed.
Strip protection before a damage burst
Typhon's command-mast fight uses a protective ray shield. Concentrated ion and anti-droid effects can expose it; testing shield counters matters more than treating every hit as equally useful.
Question: Is Typhon vulnerable enough to justify committing the team's Advantage now?

What does the record actually show?
Typhon specializes in asymmetrical warfare
The Databank explicitly contrasts Typhon's precision strikes with conventional mass-command duties.
This is a description of doctrine, not a complete mission-by-mission kill record.
Republic Intelligence sees a fixation on the plague
The agency has noticed sustained interest in the Shadow Plague and Fathom.
The Databank does not explain its cause; affection, programming changes and contagion are unsupported interpretations.
Typhon has a shielded boss encounter
Independent encounter guides and players report a ray shield, escorts, retaliation and reinforcement management.
Detailed interactions can change with patches and difficulty, so treat the notes as reported tactics rather than timeless canon.
Manufacture site and secret creator
Primary publications do not identify Typhon's builder, precise production date or private motives.
A distinctive head design and articulate voice are insufficient evidence for a hidden manufacturing history.

08 / IDS ANTHROPOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Command, automation and moral agency.
Typhon exposes an important distinction between a system's ability to select an effective target and the social judgment required to decide whether that target should be attacked. A machine strategist can optimize timing, concentration and surprise while the legitimacy of the objective remains a question of institutions, evidence and consequences.
Star Wars super tactical droids are narrated as military agents rather than simple weapons. They communicate, make plans, adapt and can be held responsible by other characters for outcomes. Whether that performance establishes independent moral consciousness is not answered by Typhon's biography. An analysis should examine the role assigned to the machine without claiming direct access to its subjective experience.
The Republic's note about a fixation with Kundri Fathom is especially revealing. It indicates that human and nonhuman observers classify machine behavior against expectations. A droid whose interests cannot readily be mapped onto its assumed purpose becomes noteworthy. The anomaly tells us as much about what the Republic expects of mechanical command as it does about Typhon itself.
Asymmetrical warfare depends on unequal vulnerability. Military targets and socially essential infrastructure often overlap: a transport line carries supplies and ordinary travelers; a communication node transmits orders and emergency requests. A purely tactical account might label such sites a weak point. Anthropological analysis considers who lives with the effects after the attack.
The Infinite Coil combines bodily infection with political allegiance. Typhon's proximity to the organization creates a contrast between machine organization and cultic authority. It does not follow that a mechanical commander has been infected with a human disease or shares the same motives as an infected follower. Distinct mechanisms of obedience can cooperate without being identical.
The boss encounter teaches an additional lesson about organization through mechanics. Typhon's danger is amplified by its shield, escort and response network. Removing the supporting droids changes the encounter more than reducing the boss to a single isolated adversary. The fiction of command is expressed through collective battlefield behavior.
Interpreting a game through its mechanics requires care. The rules of ion effects, shields and Advantage are useful to players and can support an analysis of command. They do not independently establish the character's ideology. Design can symbolize relationships without converting every combat value into a biographical fact.
Finally, the official Databank leaves the origin of Typhon's fascination unresolved. Keeping that uncertainty intact produces a more interesting archive than supplying an imaginary secret child-parent relationship with Fathom. Evidence has its own narrative force: the unknown can be examined without being prematurely filled.
